I am excited to go to the game and root for the team I have loved since I was 4 years old. I won't be as excited if it's the same game next year. Not one bit. But I will still go and root for the team I have loved since I was 4, through thick and thin. There was a looooong time of thin. I'm a Longhorn fan and say Hook'em to any others out there.
Mack Brown is like a poltician or a lobbyist who kisses babies and stays positive. It's makes me want to puke. He has no pride.
I'm excited as I could be after an underachieving season. Even though my dad adopted the Horns after his two sons went to school on the 40 acres, he was a pitcher for Oregon State in the early 60's. Who knows how many more games we'll have to see together, so we'll definitely be getting tickets for this game.
I'm excited that our coach who earns $5 million dollars per year is excited that we are in the Alamo bowl. If that's not the case then what...would someone like Mack Brown ever say he has underperformed once again?
I predict we are going to get rolled against the Beavers! Not sure the score, but we will come out flat as always.
Yeah, Mack should just say we don't even want to be in this game because we wish we won won more games this season. Seriously, at least wait for actual stuff he does wrong to jump on his case.
Does anyone really care? The only real benefit is the extra weeks if practice, which should be spent completely on live tackling drills and scrimmaging. The outcome of the Alamo bowl is secondary. I would say that it would be a replay of last year's holiday bowl except that the defense doesn't play like that anymore. I expect it to go about like the Ksu game.
Just wow.... if Mack is excited about this game then I am excited Mack is excited!!! Do you think we can get UP for the Beaver's?
I've traveled to the sugar bowl, fiesta bowl, two cotton bowls, rose bowl and 13 Tx/OU games supporting this team. I didn't miss a home game for 12 years, not to mention being in the stands from eyes to eyes during many losses with a couple of those being embarrassing. Now I'm done spending my money on this program until there is change. I won't be in San Antonio and probably won't even waste my time watching it on TV.
So we've gone from criticizing Mack in a no-win situation to advertisements of fair-weather fandom. What a thread.
What does everyone think that he should say? Should he actually say that he isn't excited, and that he doesn't really care about playing in the Alamo Bowl? Seriously, Coach Brown deserves some criticism for this season, but I don't think this warrants criticism.
Great perspective, South Austin. My father passed away last year. He and I only attended one Texas game together, the 1982 SMU-Texas game that included the SMU tandem of Eric Dickerson and Craig James. The game was insanely exciting, with a wild 4th quarter that turned on a fluke carom of a pass that SMU turned into the go-ahead touchdown, and SMU eventually won. My father wasn't a man who socialized much, and he was thrilled that one of his sons wanted to go to a Texas game with him. Enjoy the game, and I hope you get to enjoy many more with your father.
If I were him I'd say I'm mad as hell we lost our last 2 games and I'm going to do everything in my power to get these guys ready to play. I'd say I'm disappointed with an 8-4 season, but we are not going to be 8-5. I'd have some friggin fire in my belly instead of the weak *** sauce he drinks. I miss Boom.
l00p, Me too. It was what I thought it would be with 8 or 9 losses. So, while I had hoped for much more, with the players Texas lost on defense and an inexperienced. unproven QB, I'm not whacked out of my mind like the ones who expected much more around here. See you before the start of next season if we both get invites.
