You listen to Will talk and you know he gets his guys fired up and ready to play each week. It scares you to death.
You know, this is exactly the opposite of the articles that were being written during and after his first year, not to mention before this year started. Florida was seriously questioning that hire and the AD was taking a LOT of heat. Not to mention the number of people here saying we dodged a bullet there.
Also, many here are going berserk about Mack recruiting Manziel as a safety when it quotes Muschamp as saying that he was the one who liked Manziel as a safety.
Coach Boom is thanking his lucky stars he caught aggy in their first game of the season. I think johnny ******* football would light up his defense today. Georgia manhandled the Gators in their 17-9 win, and the score was only close because Georgia's quarterback threw 3 bone-headed interceptions, two in the red zone. I think Florida is going to be in for a roller coaster with Muschamp, and I'm glad he's not an option for us now.
The point is this.... Muschamp is on the same pages as the vision of almost any sane football fan, ie., Longhorn fan. I can't think of a single fan on the planet earth would would disagree with the complete understanding and mindset of how to coach and play the game, as exemplified by Muschamp. As long as he does it without falling onto a low moral ground on or off the field -- how can any football fan not say, "Hell, yeah!" And for all the complaints here in Longhorn Nation... Well, hell, that's all that's being ask for. For a man-up, realistic attitude. Muschamp is what the game is all about. And it's not just to get a win. It builds character as well. It's a wholistic approach. It covers all bases. It stamps out entitlement. It breeds accountability. It fosters decisiveness. It rewards everything that should be rewarded. It dismisses everything that is foolishness. And it's all reflected in the DNA of the head of the program. Like Will Muschamp. I am among other things, a Gator Fan and fan of Coach Boom.
Florida was 11-1 and about three plays from 7-5. They almost lost to aggy, U Fricking LaLa, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Mizzou and LSU. Two or three of those games go a play or two differently and he is being run out of town on a rail right now. So sorry I am not sold on the whole Muschamp thing at UF.
same could be said for brian kelly. they almost lost to purdue, pitt, and byu. almost lost means nothing.
I'm sure most player respect their head coach, but a healthy fear of the man in charge can take that respect and resulting accountability to another level. Kind of a foxhole mentality among the players and coaches. On the other hand, if you have a head coach that is constantly making excuses and settling for something less, the players are sure to follow. That is something that seems all too familiar lately.
I like Manziel but let's look at those highlights, it is not the Aggy offense that is so scary it is the kid making something out of a broken play or he does not read the play or understand the play from the start.......This will catch up to him, ask Tony Romo. This kid is going to run up against a defense that when he turns around to run the other way, he is going to get wallopped, he will run into that defense that will pick him off 3-4 times as he throws off his back foot. Enjoy the Heisman this year because next year is going to be long and hard as everybody will be shooting for you, think what AM did too Colt.
Florida was also a fumble by their wide receiver on the two yard line struggling to score a possible tying td against Georgia that could have sent that game to overtime in their only loss. Manziel was doing his scrambling routine against Florida in the first half and had a double digit lead at half time. Then Florida made adjustments to keep him from breaking containment and forcing him to the middle of the field. That's why Aggy didn't score in the second half and lost. Amazing how those halftime adjustments can change a game if you can make them. Sure wish Texas could do that. Think that might have something to do with coaching?
Muschamp was the D coordinator at TX when UCLA and ISU ran straight through D in Austin. Not sold on all his adjustments etc.
I like the way he has adjusted to being a head coach without the shadow of Mack Brown hovering over him anymore. He had a freshman quarterback and many injuries to starters including his quarterback and yet he won against top rated teams at home and on the road. I don't think he will be losing by 42 points to anybody probably ever.
