At this point it's a foregone conclusion It's just insane. John David crow winning the thing has always been kid of a myth or legendary tale. It's absolutely crazy for me to think that we are going to have a heisman in the modern era. Been a fun season so far. Thanks for the link.
I feel TEO deserves it but I doubt they give it to a defensive LB. If not Johnny Football deserves it.
If you had told me in September that Geno Smith would not have a single vote in December, I would have bet you $100 that you would be wrong. Wow, just wow.
I'm not sure but I think both spent a comparable time on the bench. Vince probably sat in the 4th in more games, but Manziel barely played in the 3rd in a couple different games this year. The real difference is the pace. Texas had 941 offensive plays in 2005 over 14 games, while A&M has already run 959 plays in 12 games.
Dude, Vince generally played the first series of the 3rd and then set down. Only games I remember him playing deep into the 3rd or 4th were OU, tOSU, and A&M. Even the Big 12 CC game he was basically done at 1/2.
My aggy friends are telling me that there is a late season swell of support for Te'o, and there is a degree of expectation that he will win it. Guess we will see soon.
By TX Hwy 6, it is 91.5 miles from Waco to College Station. (Google maps) Have back-to-back Heisman's ever been won by campuses that close in proximity? And with the history those two campuses have had in athletics -- and to have just disolved their joint conference affiliation. I think it would be more buzz around these parts for a long time to come if Johnny nails it.
Most of college football nation thought the aggies would be terrible in their first year of the SEC, or mediocre at best. Yet they finished the regular season 10-2, their best record since 1998, with respectable losses against Florida and LSU, and a win at Alabama. All that with an undersized redshirt freshman who had never played a down of college football. I think the Heisman deservedly goes to Manziel (as painful as it was to post this). I won't complain if the award goes to Teo, but I don't think he is as nearly responsible for Notre Dame's sucess this year as Manziel is for his team's.
how much farther back will Manziel's Hiesman win set Texas' recruiting? High school freshmen are likely forming strong interest in aggy due to their most recent record. Adding a Heisman in the foyer of their athletic facilities should help in persuading just about any recruit that is wavering on Texas for the next few seasons. They've got a head of steam, versus Mack's steaming pile.
For the record, VY did not play in 10 quarters in the blowouts he led during his last year on the 40 acres. Yes: 2.5 games worth of additional statistic-padding, mind-blowing feats of wonder that he was not actually on the field to produce.
