So if OU beats Aggy in the Cotton Bowl will they be the
premier team in Texas? That would include a clean sweep
of Big 12 Texas teams with UTEP and Aggy thrown in for
good measure. It would mean that out of 11 wins that 6
    would be against Texas teams.

aggy isn't the number one program in Texas yet, but keep MB around another 3 years and they'll blow by UT w/ no ******* problem.

So... Aggies premier program in Texas....

Meanwhile.....University of Texas is (by some accounts) second nationally only to the Green Bay Packers, as the best coaching job in football.

And since football is only played in the USA, make that "the second best coaching job on Earth."

All I know is this OU team ran Macks "kids" off the field. But they are getting beat down by A&M

Guess not. A&M looks like OU (used to look). OU looks like A&M (used to look).

A&M looks like a precision Big 12 team.
Irony is if they'd stayed in the Big 12 they'd be playing Alabama Monday night for the national championship. And probably win it.

I agree with Cowherd that they were the best & most improved team at the end of the year and the team no one wanted to play.

Staying in the Big 12 they'd be on a run for quite a spell, but now have to fight just to get into the SEC title game.

This aggy team would hang about 100+ on us if we played them right now.

with a win, which seems obvious, this will be a great year for them. would rank as our 4th or 5th best in the past 12 or so.
chill out with the premiere program. besides, let's see how they do when they're actually an SEC team. johnny manziel is sherman's commit (sumlin passed) and this team is entirely made up of big 12 players. they haven't brought in "sec talent" yet. maybe that will knock them back a bit [IMG]

Very good point by trusted insider. Great job by A&M but this type of year is pretty routine for us and it's their second best season in 20 years.

Our scrawny little annoying kid brother who we have long-term scoreboard over and against whom we have a winning record on their own field is beating the **** over the big kid next door, the spoiled brat of the ******* neighbor who wakes you up at 3am and who lets his dog crap in your yard.

The Texas kids who grew up and played for a school who loathes their entire state just lost to the dummy yokels from the state they abandoned. It's hilarious.

We cannot do anything about the Aggies or their "transcendent" player. But here's the problem: What ARE we doing?

We made a wholesale staff change two years ago. And the results?

We do less with more talent than any other team in division 1A. I challenge ANYONE to refute this statement.

In 15 years Mack has won perhaps two conference titles and one national championship. That, with "his" transcendent player. (And yes, he came very close in 2009, but with another transcendent talent.) In most of his years at Texas he has started with a significant talent advantage. An unfair talent advantage should translate into on-field dominance. Unfortunately, all too often -- and in the big games -- it has not.

Even though in most years we have had the pick of the litter, our evaluation of talent recently is troubling: RGIII, Luck, Whaley (as our only RB in that class). Those more knowledgeable can probably add a dozen more.

I AM NOT a Mack hater. But I am a realist. And, I'm really tired of the substandard performance we are willing to accept from an individual who is making a fortune, and who has perhaps the best coaching job in the country.

Where's the accountability? Sadly, apparently it doesn't matter to DeLoss Dodds, Bill Powers and a majority of the Big Cigars.

And by the way, please don't tell me to lighten up. I won't. I have lived and breathed Texas football for almost 60 years. I am not about to stop any time soon, and I will never be willing to accept mediocracy. Those who are should choose another school to follow.

Aggy will have a few years running of 10-11 wins and maybe a shot at an NC. We had our run and I think we're stuck with 7 to 9 wins per year. Looks like we switched seats with aggy.

Let's see what happens next year before we crown aggy a premier program. Manziel is fun to watch running through the defense but one year does not change things to the degree to which some people are willing to concede.

For kids, especially boys 10- 17, atm is without question the program with the most excitement, flash, charisma, etc.

New coach, new offense, big success, Heisman winner. Atm is the darling of the Texas football world.

And why not? What has UT given these kids over the last three years to get excited about. 8-4 (or 5-7 or 7-5) is the not going to compete with the bling that Johnny Football brings to the table. And atm has a lot more than just Manziel. Their defense stuffed ou when it counted in the second half.

Anyone who watched the Cotton Bowl last night knows this is obvious.

a$m will win big next year because they will be good and because of the sec scheduling - they have 8 home games and only 2 that they may not be favored in which is alabama and lsu - only 1 tough road game - this is why the sec is overrated - they don't all play each other and it is very top heavy - the aggys proved a big 12 offense can give the "big, bad sec defenses" fits
there won't be much criticism of the sec because of the huge tv contract deals - but with the success of the aggys and the losses of lsu and florida - some eyebrows have been raised - not to even get into how big the conference is compared to others

For those who believe this is a one year aberration, may I suggest a 2 x 4 to help enlighten you?

Folks, there has been a MAJOR POWER SHIFT. It happened for two reasons:

    1. Aggie got better. A lot better.
    2. We didn't.

Some of you are obviously willing to accept our performance over the past three years as not sufficiently poor to justify a change at the top. Fortunately, a majority are not.

We should win 10 games in 2013 just falling out of bed. The schedule is a cupcake, and much of the best talent in the league will be gone. Ten wins will not impress me, sorry.

Aggie will make a run at the NC. Think I'm delusional? We'll see. Bet you they will be in the top 3 come August.

Until we make the Big Change, nothing is really going to change in Austin. I would be thrilled to admit -- next December -- that I was wrong. Sadly, I won't have to do so.
