This clown makes Bobby Knight look timid by comparison. I'm all for enthusiastic coaches, but I think he's gone off the deep end. Psycho Coach
The AD who protected him should be fired too. This also made the guy Rice fired law suit much easier to win, which I hope he does.
I would think something like this could very well be a career killer. Recruiting violations and affairs with student trainers may be forgiven, but abusing players is a stigma that's hard to come back from.
I believe he still has two teenagers at home and after watching that video of him I can't help but feel sorry for his wife and kids. That kind of anger isn't something one leaves at the office.
Just now looking at the video. Is the guy being interviewed an assistant coach at Rutgers? Could or did not they say or do anything? They saw this going on for 2 years? I'm confused.
notanative - Apparently the AD knew about it for a while, but opted to go with counseling and a suspension in lieu of termination. When the school President found out about the video Rice was fired and the AD was forced out after that. I agree that more heads may roll before this is over. The AD supposedly discussed the Rice situation with other school officials and it's hard to believe the President didn't know the full story until after the fact.
What I read on the ESPN scrolling ticker is the AD said he wanted to fire Rice right away but the board said it had to be submitted for review and determined that school policy was not to fire someone for this.
