Junior College PG Krystle Henderson will chose between Texas and South Carolina in the next couple of days per Twitter.
That is huge news for next season's team. Not sure about Ashley's recovery. And, it can't hurt to get an in with JUCO powerhouse, Trinity Valley CC.
Her stats are good but not overwhelming: 10.7 points per game; 4 assts per game; 2.2 turnovers; 67% free throw percentage; 36.9% field goal percentage; 35.2% from 3 point line (which, to be fair, is a lot better than most of the Texas guards shot last year.) So the heavens haven't opened and Henderson probably isn't going to propel us into the Final Four, or even a Big 12 championship, but she will help. You never know with Juco transfers. Last year's didn't help all that much. I hope Henderson surprises us. Aston obviously doesn't think the incoming 2013 freshman class has the answer to our back court problems, so she hit the junior college market again.
Yes. This article also says she was a McDonald's High School All- American. Texas women's hoops lands JC point guard
Sounds like a pretty good PG. Right now, we really have only Celina at PG with Ashley coming back from an injury. Empress and Brianna can play the point but Empress is better on the wing and Brianna may be as well. And it's not like she is coming in straight from JC. She played at Wichita State where she averaged 18 mpg and was second on the team in assists coming off the bench. She hit 35% of her 3s at WSU as well. She should push for playing time and maybe a starting position.
I think she that article is incorrect. I think she was a McDonald's All-American nominee, which is somewhat different than actually being selected as a McDonald's All American. But I agree, she sounds like a very good addition to our team.
TXNOS is right. She was a McD's nominee. She wore #3 at WSU and at Trinity Valley. Guess she will have to change as that's Nneka's number. 33, maybe?
TVCC had a lot of guards on the roster; no sure who was the PG the majority of the time. Savannah Carter is headed to Miss. State, while Shannon Smith is going to Michigan. I blieve Rodrikka Patton and Sh'lonte Allen are freshmen, with Allen being a WBCA JUCO All-American. Krystle was at Skyline, followed by Wichita State for one year, and then TVCC for one year.
