A SEC team will be in the NC, no doubt

Getting amped for the 2013 season and was looking for upcoming games. What I discovered should be criminal-
These schedules are a joke and clearly intended to pad wins, not tune up,

Bama -Virginia Tech, Colorado State, Georgia State, Chattanooga

Aggie-All Kyle field games. Rice, Sam Houston State, SMU, UTEP

Vandy-Austin Peay, @UMass, UAB, Wake Forest

LSU- TCU,UAB, Kent State,Furman,ULM, New Mexico State

FLA-Georgia Southern, Toledo and the hurricanes, they have to play the U.

I'll stop because you get the point. Someone needs to go to jail for this obvious con job going on here.

Another smart thing the SEC does is schedule an out of conference push-over for very late in the season when it's easy to move way down in the rankings with any loss, even to a good team, but the only way you can move up is for some team above you to lose.

    So,

    Bama is playing a choo-choo,

    aggy is playing a grain,

Vandy is playing a team whose stadium yell is "Let's go peay!",

LSU is playing a detective in the OJ Simpson murder case, and

the Gators are playing a weather disturbance?

Not sure why Vandy is listed, but of the four top-tier teams you listed, 3 are playing a better team than the best non-conference team we play this year? [IMG] And why doesn't Florida State count for Florida? And given that our top two teams last year got their asses kicked in big bowl games and left the Big12 with no top 10 teams, their conference schedule looks to be better than ours too.

How does LSU have 6 non-conference opponents in your list?

Yea that's the thing, their schedules are cupcake but since they keep racking up National Championships, no argument will stick.

Their ooc schedules are no more pathetic than the B12 overall. It's their in conference schedule that should be embarrassing. The sec has 6 preseason ranked teams... aggie will play only 2 (LSU,bama), bama plays only 2 (aggie, lsu) plus VaTech ooc, SCar plays only 2 (Ga, Fla) plus Clem ooc. and Ga plays only 2 (fla,Ga). Fla and LSU get the short straw and have to play 3 sec ranked teams + 1 ooc ranked (fsu and tcu). I'm betting LSU and Fla each have that extra loss that keeps them out of the sec title game.

My prediction for the NC game is a 1-loss SEC team pounds an undefeated Ohio State team - different year and different actors but the script stays the same.

Why are aggy and Vandy on the list? Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will always be better. Same with aggy, Alabama and LSU will always be better.

The Big XII had ONE OOC game against a team that ended up in the top 25 last year and doesn't make its champion play an extra game against one of the top 2-3 teams in the conference.

The SEC beat Clemson, Florida State, and Michigan and then made their #1 and #2 teams play each other.

What the f**k are you bitching about?

    Loma,
Your throwing Vandy in the mix? Geez,,, my point is valid, the SEC. Non conference scheduling is absolutely horrendous
If the SEC. Is so freaking unstoppable, can't you schedule at least 1 non joke team?
So TAMU claim to a tough schedule is Bama?
At home. That's a tough game and I do agree the conference is strong, but good grief Austin Peay? GA Southern, etc is and should be an embarrassment to your conference.

vandy was a 9 win team last year.

on the whole, yes the SEC's noncon scheduling is soft, but let's not act like ever single team has a cakewalk schedule. below are some of the noteable noncon SEC games for 2013

    florida @miami @florida state
    georgia @clemson @gatech
    kentucky-louisville
    mizzou-none
    s.carolina-north carolina, clemson
    tennessee-@oregon
    vanderbilt-wake forest? nah. nothing really
    alabama-vatech
    arkansas-s. miss (eh), rutgers (eh),
    auburn-nothing
    LSU-TCU
    miss. st- okstate
    ole miss-texas
    A&M-nothing really

so out of 14 schools, it looks like 5 schools dont really have a quality OOC opponent.

    compared to the big 12:

baylor--none, and FYI they do play wofford (GO TERRIERS!)
    iowa st--@tulsa?
    kansas-latech?
    kansas state-nothing
    oklahoma-notre dame
    OSU-miss. st
    TCU-LSU, smu?
    UT-ole miss/BYU
    tech-smu?
    WVU-maryland? maybe?

so on that list, the teams that i see playing quality OOC opponents are UT, OU, TCU, and OSU...and that's not including tulsa/latech/smu etc.

am i missing something? the big 12 has its fair share of crap OOC games too...baylor's non con consists of wofford, buffalo and ULM. how's that any better than mizzou's non con being murray st, toledo, indiana and arkansas state?

Well, the SEC has won what, seven straight BCS championships? Perhaps they need to schedule better opponents for the title game as well.

"vandy was a 9 win team last year. " ----- ----------- __________________________________________ now name their best win. Oops, just looked , it's 1 pt over OleMiss with some blowout losses. This yrs polls, not last yrs ending poll. Still, even you must laugh at Vandy being ahead of any of teams on that list. Best win ole miss. Plenty of preseason polls for 2013 to use. Don't remember seeing Vandy on any. TCU and OkSt are on the all however. Phil Steele put out his preseason AP top 26 and no Vandy. I like preseason polls because they look mostly at talent and production. By seasons end a team like Vandy or Northern Ill can climb by winning all their games against non top 40 teams. Vandy has 8 this yr so (like last yr) it could be a banner yr in Nashville. Give me a break on vandy, surely your not that brainwashed already

The Big XII guy ignores the top end and focuses purely on the bottom.

Couldn't have seen that one coming.

    Joe,
I love you like a brother, so understand that I am not hammering the quality of the SEC, just their obvious habit if scheduling schools I didn't even know fielded a football team.
I can name you the location and mascots of the BigXII opponents ( and agreed, KSU. Plays an SEC type non conference schedule..an embarrassment)
Last year, and this is no misprint, was a week in the heart if the season of the SEC:
    Alabama 49, Western Carolina 0.
    Georgia 45, Georgia Southern 14.
    Auburn 51, Alabama A&M 7.
    Texas A&M 47, Sam Houston State 28.
    Kentucky 34, Samford 3.
    Florida 23, Jacksonville State 0.
    South Carolina 24, Wofford 7.

I'm asking that criminal charges be levied against the SEC and am considering filing a class action lawsuit based upon misrepresentation of a football game.
Yep, lets throw KSU. In as well.

I totally agree. And I have strong feelings for you as well.

And my intent was to show that although the sec is guilty of egregiously scheduling patsies, most teams do have at least 1 decent team on their schedule (with exceptions)

That being said I think it's an epidemic in cfb right now (with a few exceptions--the horns being one). Hell, no offense to shark4, but ohio state is playing Florida a&m this year.

I think most if not all schools do it to an extent. The blueprint for success is one decent noncon and then 2-3 patsies before getting into conference play.

and to be fair, sam houston state ended being ranked higher by sagarin than UT opponents new mexico or wyoming. [IMG]

i'm more embarrassed that we played south carolina state. but at least that was early in the season.

There's plenty of cupcake scheduling going on everywhere. When the new system (the committee) has to pick between say 4 or 5 undefeateds and starts looking at SOS for that last spot, then programs will start tossing the cupcake platters and go looking for liver and onions.

The SEC plays patsies late in the year because the schedule isn't as standardized as other leagues. If there's one thing we can hopefully agree on, it's that the SEC "gets" branding. A big part of branding in CFB is rivalries. Rivalries are probably more a part of the identity of college football than any other American sport.

The Big 12 killed one of its two biggest rivalries - NU-OU - for efficiency in the calendar. The SEC won't. It's got to protect its four East teams' OOC rivalries, three of which have to be at year's end. It's got to protect inter-divisional rivalries like AU-UGA and UA-UTenn, which need to be in mid-November and relatively close to the 3rd Sat in Oct as possible, respectively. It's got to keep the Cocktail Party the last weekend in October.

As a result, the SEC can't tell all its teams to play its OOC games in Sept all at once, and then start the conference season. That basketball type scheduling works for other leagues, but not the SEC. As a result, you end up with staggered bye weeks, and other weird scheduling quirks. One year in the last 3 (can't remember which), Bama played 6 teams coming off bye weeks. You think when that's an issue, you can just plug in an Oregon, Texas, tOSU, etc in week 11? No ******* way. Plus, most aren't available late, because they ARE playing basketball type schedules with OOC and in-conference.

Excuse me, did the Aggie just compare Sam Houston to New Mexico or Wyoming? How much do you want to bet on that? That was the Aggiest comment I ever heard. Sam Houston cannot compete with Wyoming or New Mexico, don't even try it, you sound stupider than stupid.

Then the other SEC loser talks about top end and bottom end, dude TCU and West Virginia are perfect examples, when you have to play real teams week in and week out it takes it out of you. Hats off to the SEC for playing an Oswald at the end of the year to recuperate......... When the top 7 don't lose to the bottom 7 in your conference, you know you have an equity issue. Take some advice, it will destroy your conference, cheating, oh wait, leaving the conference oh wait........sounds like your are at home agroid!
