I wanted to start this board before any haters did. First of all I think the Horns will be amazing this year and will be the Big 12 Champs and play in a BCS Bowl Game!

Well, isn't this rich? Our family has owned the same block of seats every year reserved for the kids, the parents, spouses, etc.. since DKR was coaching.. I will always support our team just as I have for nearly 40 years of going to the games but I will continue to appraise our team and its chances based upon the staff coaching it, the roster we have, and the competition we face. As such I call my shots as I see them. Good or bad, I reserve this right. So in this labeling and divisive culture we live in am I hater or a supporter? Tread lightly, idiot, I haven't told you if it's 12-0 or 0-12 I predict this year. Or maybe.... EDT, the OP, is simply a f'n moron.

This has gotten out of hand on this board about haters and such.

If you want to make a prediction thread then make one without the commentary and give your opinion and move on unless you would like to give some solid information on why you predicted as you did.

This should be the case no matter what record anybody predicts. That being said I say 9-3 or 10-2. We are once again working in a new offensive scheme and trying to get more consistent on defense.

Also we are working in some new talent on both sides of the ball and that takes time usually. Hopefully both will gel by mid season.

At BYU, OU, KSU, OSU, at TCU, and at Baylor are all not push overs. A 4-2 record out of those six games would be a very good result for this team.

We are lucky with home games of ksu, osu, and tech. Hard to predict until we can hang our hat on something. Our D has to be much better and we have to be able to run the ball. If we can do those 2 things I can see a great year. Of course Ash needs to at least be consistent and keep the chains moving without many turnovers. If those things happen I can see 11-1. If we are only marginally better in those areas than last year; 9-3 at best.

It's hard to make a prediction now before at least seeing how the Horns perform against the relatively easier part of our early schedule. Without that, I have no reason to feel better about our chances to reverse the trends against Oklahoma and Kansas State, or about a significant improvement of our defense's performance (but I find it hard to believe that our D can do any worse than last year).

I predict 9-3 and a trip to the Cotton Bowl.

And for the record, I'm not a "hater." I've attended every home game during the tough three-year stretch we've been through, and I have no intention of giving up my season tickets and my rabid support for the Longhorns.

The Horns will improve as the team and its players mature and a couple of the other teams we play will be on the down cycle.

My guess is 11 wins but 10 will still be good.

I will be happy to see improvement, but l will be pissed if we struggle against non-top 25 teams. Up tempo office should help (better help) 10-2.

I will reserve my won-loss prediction for a thread in August. However, I am convinced that whether this season is great or mediocre (the last couple of years) depends on the defense. Diaz has to earn some skins in the big games (ou especially).

I am confident that a Major led offense will put points on the board.

Let's see if Diaz can put a solid defense on the field.

I don’t have an opinion on the season, but I do have a question.

Can anyone give one reason—just one—to think that Mack will go into Dallas with a team and staff that is prepared to compete?

I’m not even talking about winning at this point, just f’ing show up and be competitive.

I can’t think of a single reason why I should expect this to happen in October. I would love to see it happen.

I can name a couple of reasons, one our offensive line is pissed off and two I said we will be at least competitive if not put up a sizeable win against the okies.

This reminds me of the 2005 offseason and my feelings not for a National Championship but of our chances against the Okies. We have the experienced QB and that is the usual decider.

    Dion,
    I have one reason.
    1. UT went from being the least experienced team in the NCAA to the most experienced.
    2. OU is replacing 9 starters on defense.(Kinda like UT did three years ago)
    3. OU has an unproven fullback playing QB.

NOTE: All naysayers must read this: I am not, I repeat, not.. Saying UT wins. I am responding to the previous posters question.

Long story short, OU is now like UT has been over the past few years.
I don't see depth, experience or a Hiesman hopeful QB at OU.. For a change and I do see depth, experience and a very good QB at UT.

NRHorn, those are some positive things to consider, thanks.

Their “unproven fullback playing QB” is most certainly proven near the goal line. He just seems to run in at will against Manny’s _efense.

After all my initial optimism and later dashed enthusiasm & disappointment last season... especially about the D, my optimism is tempered going into 2013. The jury is out on the D and we will find out how pissed off the OL really is. My heart says 11-1 is achieveable for this team if they stay healthy, etc. but my head thinks 9-3 may be more realistic. i hear you Diaon, But Bell was 9 of 16 for 107 yds......for the entire season.

He might be the next coming of Sam Bradford, I really am not saying he is no good, I just dont know how good he will be leading the Sooners in a game where a strong passing attack is needed.

Like many of you I have my doubts about the Dallas game. We haven't had spectacular teams as of late but we have had ranked bowl winning teams and have not even competed against our biggest rival. Lost by an average of 40 points. Finally chokelahoma is facing similar program pains but it's hard to get too optimistic. As for the rest of the schedule, okie lite is the only other school that scares me at this point so a 10 win season is certainly possible maybe 11.

"Our D has to be much better" Why? As long as _iaz is the _coordinator I will be very skeptical that TX can stop any competitive offense. I hope I am wrong.

With respect to being competitive in Dallas, the last couple of years have shown that there is no reason to believe TX will compete much less win. OU will not be a very good team this fall and TX should hammer them on-paper facts, but this coaching staff will put the team in a position to lose. That is a fact based on way too many thrashings. 10 wins in the regular season. Dallas and an unforeseen stumble is all that stands in our way.

No reason you guys can't win 10 games. Ole Miss, Baylor, OU, and maybe WVU could be tough, but you could easily split those 4. Other 8 you should be favored in.
