We're not ok. This season has been and will remain a mandate on the need to change direction in this program. Having said that...

For the last 90 minutes, you given us the chance to forget all that and enjoy what we love more than anything - watching the Horns stomp a mud hole in OU. You had this team ready to play, and for all their faults and flaws, they look like they get it.

So now it's on you. You can send these guys out, coach aggressively, step on their throat and save this season, and in doing so maybe put together a final season that will let us send you off with the warm heartfelt thanks that I and many others believe you deserve. If this team goes out and fights for 90 more minutes and you put them in position to do what they do well, this can be a season to remember and one that while I wish it had gone differently, will not force fans to spend the rest of the season just wanting it all to end.

It's on you. Now go beat OU. Hook 'em!

Not to bump my own post... but be honest, how many of you guys had a tear in your eye watching Mack get doused. I'll admit it, it was there for me. I may have enjoyed a non-championship win more than this before, but I don't recall when it was.

I did feel empathy for Mack during the dousing... I had a tear in my eye when I knew late in the 3rd quarter we would win it. [IMG]

It was an emotional win, for sure.

Texas beating ou in 2008 was special. I will still go back and watch that game and relish every moment.

The last scoreboard win over aggy and the Nebraska win in 2010 were also great moments. All the losses after the Nebraska game just soured that win.

Wouldn't it be something if Texas actually won the conference, won the bowl game and Mack retired "on top"? It's what I fully believe he would have done had we beaten Alabama in 2008.

I hope Mack runs the table (not likely to) and goes out with a winning season, and retires with class.

Ditto. I want him to retire but I don't want to see anyone miserable who legitimately loves UT. I can only imagine how hard this has been on him and to be completely fair, he's brought it on himself. It was nice to see him happy for a day. I hope he can look back on this next year in retirement and see it as going out on a high note. I hope it also turns up the heat on Big Game Bob.

Could not be happier for Mack Brown. Still think it is time for him to move on, but this gives him a chance to do so on a high note. [IMG]

    Dear Mack,

Part of our problem is you're too nice.
Why in the world would we try to run out the clock for the entire fourth quarter?
When we have OU down, you let up and play not to lose. When we're down, OU stomps on our face and spits on us on their way to embarrassing our program.
It is this attitude, or lack thereof, that has caused most people to call us "soft".
P.S.- I do not take for granted the return to dominance you led us to in the 2000's, thanks for the memories.

Retarded posts are retarded. There was nothing wrong with the 4th quarter game plan to run out the clock.

He was throwing for the end zone with 10 minutes to play up 26 points. I'm OK with the level of aggression with which he approached the fourth quarter.

    Retarted posters are retarted.

The only thing wrong with playing not to lose is you let the team you are stomping by 23 get to the point that they are inside the red zone working to score to make it a one possession game.

Had we kept playing to win, we could have scored 50.

It is exactly this lack of a "killer instinct" I was describing above...

Mack wants to win, he just doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings while doing it.

We threw 2 passes the entire quarter with 0 completions to our team.

    We punted twice.

Almost all of our runs were unimaginative dive plays.

    We scored 0 points.

That is playing not to lose....no matter how you look at it.

"Retarted" is certainly one way of looking at it.

It was a great victory and great effort and execution... But. I do believe a change is still in order. 1 great performance does not save a season... Show me 6 more wins and I will still feel the same.

That said... I am happy with the W and await TCU in two weeks. The team has proven to Themselves they can win... But it should not come as a shock... They are stacked with talent. What's sad is than many of us fans are expecting a let down at some point. Not because we want a change but it's what Mack Brown teams have done the past 4 years. Have we forgotten the the two loses already?

I want Mack gone yesterday. I never indicated otherwise. That doesn't mean that I won't respond to garbage posts. We saw what happened when Case threw the ball. A lot of nice 3rd down conversions, a couple of deep ball connections, about 4 missed TDs, one terribly missed 4th down, and one of those 2 attempts in the 4th Quarter was the most idiotic pass I've ever seen, which by the way was the sole reason the game lead shrunk from 23 points to 16 points. We were averaging 5 yards per carry and had no real incentive - with an average-at-best QB - to not do anything but run and burn clock. May god have mercy on your soul.

^^^^ This. Mack got a nice win over OU. Now it's time to bow out and be remembered for bringing UT a NC. Otherwise he'll be remembered as the coach who stayed too long an eroded the program.

Yes, CM really missed badly on two passes that probably cost Horns some points, but overall CM played well....we all can't be PERFECT cause most of us have flaws and make mistakes...

What idiotic pass are you talking about....screen intercepted for OU TD????

Why can't you folks enjoy a win. Sheesh. Unimaginative was working. They ran the ball right at them all day and it was successful for the most part.

I think I'll just enjoy the win, rather than b*tch about not running up the score. I was perfectly happy with running the ball on every play in the 4th quarter.

    Let's keep this in perspective...

Don't pretend this was a great OU team. This is a good team with a solid defense and a very one-dimensional offense. Winning this game simply means we did what we all expected should have happened going into the season. Look at the rest of the schedule. Aside from Baylor, is there anyone left that looks that great? Certainly no one that's top 10 or maybe even top 20 (unless OSU gets their act together.)

I think we'd be kidding ourselves thinking that just because we run the table going into the Baylor game that it means "we're back." It's certainly a good sign... but unless Mack wins a BCS bowl, I don't know how you can argue that this season wasn't a step back. And it was a step back because Mack didn't do his job when he needed to do it.

I think he showed the right amount of aggressive play calling with the tools he had to work with. Remember, had case connected on just 2 of his 5 overthrows, then the full blowout is on and this conversation isn't happening. I thought Case played adequately. He wasn't great. If he was just a bit better this is a 51-13 score.

This win, as good as it was, does not take away from the fact that this season has been a disaster, like last year, the year before, and.............

I didn't quit on Mack Brown like many quitter Texas fans did. I bought my OU ticket, booked my hotel room (see putting my $ where my mouth is), and I was greatly rewarded for my support.
