Erin Andrews just tweeted it, so it must be true. [IMG] [IMG]

As Luck would have it, this sits well with me. [IMG]

I wonder if this has anything to do with Oliver Luck being on the Football Bowl Playoff Committee. Did Texas pick him because he's on the committee? Or did the committee pick him because they knew he could be the new Texas AD?

Oliver Luck was picked because he is easily the smartest person on the committee but don't tell Osborne, who will continue to believe he is. One of the reasons is to slow down his juggernaut that will dismantle the NCAA.

    Would be a great choice.

And he is a Texas Law grad, so that didn't hurt.

I would be surprised if it is announced before we play WVU, but sources (the Shag [IMG] ) say it's a done deal.

If it is a done deal this would be the best news possible for future coaching hires (whenever they occur). Just one last prayer/wish - that Luck becomes "The" AD with Plonsky reporting to him. Hopefully that would run her off and the Renaissance would be complete.

    Viper,

PLEASE! What has Oliver Luck ever done to you? I want Luck to take the job. Why on earth would you want to force him to put up with her?

    Sabre,

I want him to get rid of her. However it is going to have to look like it was her idea; otherwise the bleeding hearts will not let it happen.

He needs to be better friends with Mike Zimmer.

Can someone please tell me why I should drink the Luck Kool Aid? I'd like to, I just want to know why. Yes his bio states all the things he has managed and run- but why is he successful and going to bring back that success to all my favorite Longhorn sports?

What does he have that other ADs don't besides an offer with a large salary?

    Ricky,

You think any of them watch other games? Rice only watches a game if Gene wants.

Osborne watches games not for quality of play, but rather to answer his three primary questions:

    1) Where they got their steroids

    2) How many players are out on bond

    3) Try to figure out how much they are paying certain players.

Nor does him being on the playoff selection committee make him an automatic good choice to run an entire athletic dept.

I too would love to know why he is so highly coveted. I haven't followed him. I only know what's been written about him in various media outlets recently. He seems to have the business sense (former President & GM of the Dynamo when they won two championships, helped them secure $$ to build their new stadium, etc.). He was a back-up QB in the NFL for 5 years. Current AD at WVU. UT Law degree.

Lots of experience in various areas, but serious question: What sets him apart from others? Are there others out there with equivalent skins on the wall?

I went to law school with him, though didn't know him very well. PLayed hoops with him a couple of times, and was in a couple of classes. Very, very smart. The guy was a a Rhodes Scholar finalist and got his law degree with honors. He knows college sports. He knows pro sports. He has extensive high-level level experience. He has fund-rainsing experience at high levels. Not sure why so many are questioning his credentials.
    Tell me who is better.

He already knows the Houston market and big donors very well. That means a lot whether we think it should or not

He is qualified in one sense. He will never state that winning all the time is bad for the coaches and the kids.

Also, he is likely sufficiently mature to recognize that 18 year and older scholarship collegiate athletes are young men, not kids, and he will deal with them accordingly.
