The real questions we should be asking is will he begin everything he has to say to Tom Osborne with "Got a second?"

If it is Luck, does Holgrensen come with him?

If it is Luck, do we have a shot at his 15/16 year old son?

I am on board with this AD choice. Unlike some Hornfans, I appreciate Deloss and I believe he did a great job for us over the course of his long career. Now, it is time to move ahead.

I like the analysis that Erin Hogan had about luck on the Radio. He merely stated that Deloss has build the athletic department into what it is today... Mac Brown rebuilt the Football program and did all the booster mingling instead of Deloss.

Well today everything is built... so you only really need someone to come in and managed it all... and all being the stuff that Deloss and not Mack should have been doing "boosters and fund raising". Luck is young and can do all the roles and if he "hires Mack Brown" again after this season.. well.. Mack should not have to do all the previous roles he had as CEO and can now focus on coaching.. but I still think this might be Mack's last year but he is not stepping down.

I like Oliver Luck's resume. Seems to fit with UT quite well, especially having a UT lay degree [EDIT: well, he has a better degree than this, that many UT grads have, to which the next post alludes [IMG]]. Smart guy, with all kinds of experience around sports. Been in Texas a lot and knows a lot of people. Has run a decent college athletics program. Has some republican party credentials, so some politics does run in him, which is not a bad thing. Heck, even some soccer background. What is not to like, as long has he is not a lying cheating bastard (hopefully not).... R.J.

I agree with myself that he has the right credentials.

I think that he would be a great choice. I would love to be at the interview when he is asked what his vision is.

According to a story in the Statesman, interviews are to begin this weekend with Luck.

As it turns out, West Virginia will be in Fort Worth for a game at TCU Saturday, and Andrew Luck and the Colts will be in Houston to play the Texans on Sunday night.

Arkansas's Jeff Long and Arizona State's Steve Patterson are reportedly also in the mix to replace Dodds.

Bleacher Report saying azcentral reporting Patterson has declined ("I've served my time in Austin."), but also saying Bellmont didn't offer.

    d336,

Thank you for your thoughts, but NO ONE in or around Bellmont could have accomplished what Mack Brown was able to do. I am not an MB apologist, but do have a sincere appreciation for the job he did bringing almost everyone back into the fold. When Mack arrived, no school in the country was more divided into more factions than were we. Most all of that can be attributed to one person, but MB did an unbelievable job of reuniting most of the fan base.

I am a big supporter of Deloss, but he could never have done that. Neither could DKR. No single donor or group of donors could have done it. Hats off to Dodds for steering the ship through those most troubled times.

I do think Luck has many of the needed requirements/experiences to be our AD. And think about it, anyone with the first name of OLIVER, has to be a badass to survive in this environment.

Couldn’t agree more with Sabre — whatever we fans may think of Mack’s faults (real or perceived) he took Texas from irrelevance to champions, and he did it respectably. We shouldn’t kid ourselves to think that this was an easy task, even at a place like UT.

Whatever may remain of his career here, Mack is a genuine Longhorn Legend.
