and it was made (several times) by the biggest liar the U.S. has ever known..........."You can keep your insurance if you like it"......... Thanks dems/libs for being complicit in this.
how about reagan when he said he was unaware of Iran-Contra or Daddy Bush when he said he did not recall being in WH meetings when the illegal conspiracy was being discussed? Or Johnson every time he opened his mouth? Or NIxon when he said he was not a crook? Or that he was unaware of the burglary ring being run out of his basement? Obama is a classic elitist bumbler and is going to go down in history as the biggest large scale bungler ever-----worse than Carter or Harding Trying to gauge American presidents by the scale of their lying is like gauging Mexican Presidents by how much they steal.
This is definitely a significant lie but when judged against historical presidential lies I can't imagine this would rank in the top 10. Within the last decade we had the "WMD's in Iraq" lie used to trump up a war that directly resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and over a trillion $$$ of US debt. With that said, Obama should be held accountable for the lie but I'm not sure the hyperbole is necessary.
husker^^ you've got to be kidding, but that response is what I'd expect from a dem/lib. No common sense.
No sense? Calling this"Biggest lie by a POTUS in history" is no sense and shows a demonstrable lack of knowledge of history. If you're truly looking for the "biggest lie" (I know you aren't) then I'd probably look back to the statements about the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Presidents have fabricated reasons for war multiple times in our history resulting in ten's of thousands of American lives lost. Maybe it's just me but I put a premium on those lies.
All good points about the history of repeated lying. Some points I'd make following the observations.... "Political power corrupts the judgment." --that's at the heart of it. As to Obama, his repeated words loom quite large because he and his followers have held him us as ... well, putting it in barnyard talk, his **** don't stink. That he was above EVERYTHING. He was the smart guy, the wise man, the fair and honest person, and voted in by all who feel he represents who they are also. His presidency seems to have always stood on the fact that you could believe him and trust him. Whatever he says -- that's it. That's the deal. He knows. He's the Man. Ask the international community how that's going these days. The contrast in the words from then to now, is because of the way he delivered with a cutting edge as if to slap you in the face at the same time. He also added End of Story at least one. If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. Period. End of Story. Like that. It's the 'period' that made it appear as it does today. Now, the twist goes something like: "you call that insurance? what you'll get is a better plan. REAL insurance. it will be different. And that's the way it is. So get over it." He's adding that to his delivery now. That kind of attitude. He and Jay Carney. Govenment knows what is best for you. What kind of smartphone to buy. What kind of car to buy. What kind of education to get. That's the tone of progressive attitude. And yes, government has lied about the reasons for American encroachment for decades upon decades. It was always about projecting power.
In reply to ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ No common sense. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In lay terms, that means having a different perspective than dillohorn. In his mind, logic, reason, historical knowledge and perspective are nowhere nearly as important as being the latest opinion to roll through his marvelous mind.
HE, every time someone said that the numbers being touted for Obamacare just don't add up, they were called racist morons by the more "enlightened" ones. So has BO been purposely lying or just dumb enough to believe what he has been saying? Either way, we are screwed.
I do think he wished to deceive. It's no secret that a single-payer system has always been the goal, but there was no way the voters would go for that. So, propose a new healthcare system that will be all things to all people. When it fails, as I think it will and I believe they knew it would, then a single-payer system will be the solution to the problems. Voila!! It will be done before most people realize what is happening.
There would be no way to gauge which is the biggest lie. In some of these cases, they are broken promises versus lies. Obama stated their would be no taxes on those making less than $250,000. This is a broken promise. Same as "read my lips." Other "lies"like reference to Iraq are harder to prove even if the reality proved it after the fact. There was plenty of credible evidence that there were WMDs and even Clinton and others were on record believing it to be true. Obama's most recent lie falls into this discussion because it is so obvious that the people who love him have even stated so. I would not call it the biggest lie, I would call it one of the most obvious lies by a POTUS and it will be brought up for as long as Obamacare is around.
Harry Reid has stated on more than one occasion that this is just temporary until single payer is done.
“The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow.” — Bill Clinton in 1998
“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.” — Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002
“Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.” — Al Gore, 2002
“I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force – if necessary – to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.” — John F. Kerry, Oct 2002
“The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real, but as I said, it is not new. It has been with us since the end of that war, and particularly in the last 4 years we know after Operation Desert Fox failed to force him to reaccept them, that he has continued to build those weapons. He has had a free hand for 4 years to reconstitute these weapons, allowing the world, during the interval, to lose the focus we had on weapons of mass destruction and the issue of proliferation.” — John Kerry, October 9, 2002
“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.” — From a letter signed by Joe Lieberman, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara A. Milulski, Tom Daschle, & John Kerry among others on October 9, 1998
