He made so many clutch completions in the second half. Two 3rd down completions to extend the drive before the 49 yard TD pass mid 3rd quarter. A 3rd down completion to extend the TD drive at the end of the 3rd quarter. Two 3rd down completions (including a very money 3rd and 14 completion) to extend the drive that ended in a ridiculously money 10 yard TD pass to Shipley...ALSO ON 3RD DOWN! Then when we absolutely had to have it, he converted 4th and 7 on the final drive in regulation, allowing us to get us the FG to push OT. Then of course the winning TD pass in OT...ALSO ON 3RD DOWN! 34 second half points is very impressive (27 in regulation), and WVU fans must have been driven crazy by all the clutch 3rd downs in the second half. McCoy is the man!
McCoy = the worst!!!!!! Greatest QB in Texas history! If this kid runs the table.........omg!!!! His aggie game is still top 10 ever!!! Yep I said it! Top 10 ever!!!!
It really doesn't matter what anyone says here about Case, he will never get the credit he deserves. Who on this board can honestly say they saw the Horns being 6 - 0 in conference at this point once David Ash went down. I would guess to say ZERO.
Case made those third and fourth down completions when everyone knew what Texas would do. We never ran, or screen or draw play on 3rd and short. Even 3rd and 2. Guarantee to pass. We're too predictable on offense ... oh, except for the OT touchdown.
Case is a winner. That said, he'd have an easier time winning if he was more of a pass/runner threat.
I resisted getting on the Case bandwagon. But I have been washed over by a tidal wave of Caseteria, and now I see the light! I climbed on and am riding high. GO CASE!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!
Money huh? If he was halfway decent in hitting the other 5,000 atrocious passes he threw, he would have never been in a position to be $5 over a piss poor West Va. defense. Our QB looked like Gilbert 90% of the night, but boy he sure did come through in the money spots. That logic only works for emotional fans just glad we escaped. Take a seat in the film room come Monday morning when they sift through the tape play by play. Case would owe us money for that awful performance. We never should have been on the verge of losing that game if he was remotely competent as a whole.
Brad, by any chance have you taken a look at the scoreboard lately? Have you noticed the comebacks Case has engineered recently, and throughout his career? Yes, I know. Had a better QB been behind center those comebacks would not have been necessary, right? Really? Some folks are style over substance obsessed. For me, it's the intangibles. Case has them. Call it magic, luck, whatever. With virtually no running ability and a weak arm, the kid continues to pull off miracles. In the clutch, with limited tools, he usually makes it happen. A&M, Kansas, ISU, WVA... The haters need to understand that strong arms and pretty spirals don't necessary translate into wins. Right now we have a winner at the helm. It's time to understand and embrace that.
As long as he's not trying to throw a sideline pass, which seems to go 3 yards out of bounds 80% of the time....but yes, he is winning....I wouldn't call him ' money' though
The defense gave up 40 points and we won. We scored more against WVU than any team but Baylor this year (and Baylor was at home) We won because of Case McCoy not in spite of him. With Ash in there we get blown out. There is no way he could make all those 3rd down completions. Case is just the better passer. I thought Case should have been starting over Ash since 2011. I'm curious if anyone still thinks Ash is better than McCoy now.
I think more then anything, on 3rd down Case looks to Ship first. Ash never figured out that Ship is money. He dropped a tough TD pass on Sat, but that was a tough catch and I still am surprised to see him drop those. Case has been money, but let's not forget whose on the other side of those plays. You want to convert 3rd and 7, throw to Ship. Not sure why Ash never figured that out.
It appears, despite his limitations, that Case has "IT." Somehow, someway, when it matters the most, he makes perfect passes. I don't think the coaches want Case running too much, with the backup situation we now have.
Case has confidence which is one of the most important things that has shaped this team. The team believes in him and has confidence. The D has confidence since Robinson came over and it drives home just how important teamwork is.
We were 0/8 on our first 8 3rd down opportunities. He plays so crappy in most first halves, that he surprises the D in the second half. Its classic rope a dope in boxing. Or in this case. Herp a derp.
It never ceases to amaze me how determined some people are to make a glass half empty. And if you don't have to work at it to make that so, you have my sympathy.
I always say I'll eat crow when I'm wrong so here I go.....I said he has "it" although I did say he had an ugly it.
Neither Ash nor McCoy are difference makers. Ash is better than McCoy, but "better" is relative. Mack hitched his wagon to Gilbert and once that didn't pan out we were screwed.
Ash has played , what, 2 games this year? He is most likely through with football. He wasn't a top quality QB either. Good yes, but not better than what most programs have. We'd be better off converting a DB to QB than continueing to play Case. Heaven forbid they play Swopes.
