redshirt sophomore QB at tech who got passed up this year due to injuries, is receiving his degree in may. he's going to compete for the starting job there with baker mayfield and davis webb....

but he's a dual threat from lake travis who had an offer (according to rivals) from the horns coming out of HS.

since he graduates in may he can go wherever he wants to and would have two years to play two.

i wonder if he could be a good addition to yall's QB depth chart next year (especially if ash is done with football)

Good catch on this one. Sounds like win-win to me... recruited by the previous coach at Tech who is now up in Pullman, and potentially coming to play for a new coach at Texas.

just flipped through the tech rivals board and apparently he's being touted as a slight favorite to start over baker mayfield.

i know the horns cant recruit him, but i'd find a way to put out feelers to him in some way.

Won't the aggies need a QB next year too?

well as it stands right now kenny hill will battle it out with kyle allen (who starts in december) for the starting job. i feel confident that either one of them will be able to run our offense well.

the big question comes if luke joeckel decides to graduate and move on with the rest of his life. that would leave us with only two scholarship QBs.

so we need a QB just for depth...not necessarily to compete to be the starter.

Brewer is good but I'll wait for Heard.

I think his experience would be a great asset for Texas, but why would he leave Tech? At least not until he is passed over for the starter next season, if that happens at all.

i think he'll know in the spring whether he has a shot at starting.

if he loses that battle, then it might get interesting.

Joe - Kenny Hill will be real, real good, if you don't already know that, but I think you're buying into the Kyle Allen hype a little too quickly. He may also turn out great of course, & yes I've seen highlights & he's certainly a top HS QB, but you've been around long enough to know how undependable that can be. I've seen other AZ guys not pan out enough times to be a little prejudiced against the level of competition that they are dominating until I see how they do at the next level. OTOH, he could be the greatest of all time, & just happened to be in AZ, but would dominate anywhere. I would feel like we knew a little more if he was playing Texas HS ball, but we will see.
The irony of his development will be how it affects Kyler Murray. You know KM would like to be an aggy, & if KA doesn't look like a world beater next yr, I'm pretty sure he will be. But I've seen Kenny hill enough to know that (barring injury) he will be great, & if Allen looks like the next Troy Aikman, then I just don't see Kyler take a chance on sitting the bench when he will probably have his choice of any school in the Nation. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds....

Also, even though everyone is helping Johnny pack his bags, ya never know. The last two weeks might've changed his thinking about staying just a little. You know, about the same amount that your odds of winning the Lotto change when you buy two tickets instead of one. [IMG]

the only reason i'm giving allen a shot is because he's a december enrolee so he'll have 9 months of weights and practice under his belt before the first game. i think hill has our best shot at being a starter.

as for murray, i think he can still fit into the overall plan and will almost be guaranteed a RS year. and if kyle allen doesnt redshirt (which i'm not sure how they can redshirt him if joeckel decides to leave) that creates even more space between him and murray.

Brewer has the added advantage of not sucking horribly a la Mayfield and Webb. The question is why he didn't get much more playing time after he healed up. Not sure if he was in Kliff's doghouse or what.

Seems like every other school does fine with developing freshman QBs quickly.
I feel Mack pampers them a bit too much.

That's why we end up in these situations.

What are the rules on this? If he contacts us first, then can we talk to him? Is he allowed to visit? A post up above said that we can't recruit him and I assume that is correct.
