Dec 30th @ 5:45pm.---Oregon blowout coming soon.....Alamo Bowl not exactly a thrilling end to the season........
I've only bet against the Horns one time when we were favored by a lot in what I thought would be a close game (we won and I won but the jerk never paid me). If Oregon isn't giving up too many points, I may consider doing it again.
I honestly hope for Mack's own good that it ends for him this week. If he sticks around for this bowl game, it's going to be an extremely ugly ending to witness for him. I'd really rather not see him go out with another 63-14 type loss for his sake.
I wonder if the Oregon band will learn to play this. The Link Isn't the slit throat signal not allowed any more? Dear General Powers, I am besieged by a team of Oregonians wearing garish uniforms. Their up tempo spread offense is running around and through us with zone reads and bubble screens. The speed of their frontal attack is astounding. Please send reinforcements as I am afraid all is lost without protection from them or the thousands of disgruntled Texicans in the stands. Your humble servant, Colonel Brown
In cringed when I heard who the Horns drew in this gig... on HF we have done the reverse mojo about being "doomed" vs. other opponents - in this case, I am afraid we are truly doomed vs the Ducks.
Eh, Oregon seemed to lose interest in their season after being knocked out of the national championship hunt by Stanford. They were blown out by Arizona (16-42) and barely beat Oregon State (36-35). So who knows? Early in the season, most people here thought we’d be blown out by OU, TCU and Tech.
Same people said we would beat OSU because it's at home and McCoy is magic and has it and Chelf isn't any good. We will beat Baylor because the cold weather will favor our power running game. Why there was even people here willing to bet $1000 dollars on it. I can't remember anybody saying TCU would blow us out, maybe win the game. I do remember some saying Tech would, but I know I said we would beat them easily because Tech was not a good team. OU wasn't very good when we played them, but like nearly always they seem to right the ship even when we beat them and come out smelling like a rose or in this case like sugar. The Oregon qb Mariotta was a legit Heisman candidate till he hurt his knee. He will be healthy again by game time. A 5-15 record against ranked teams since 2009 and Oregon is ranked #12. A healthy Mariotta vs. McCoy that is a classic match up. The Link If the Ducks don't want to play they could lose, but Mariota being healthy again makes him want to play and that make the whole team ready to go.
Yeah, I think the score will be determined by how hungry the ducks are. We will play hard, I believe that. Our guys have played hard all year. Even when Diaz was dialing up death with his inept schemes. This team has shown a lot of heart. I think O wins by 17 to 20. Our offense will not be able to keep up. Accuracy and arm strength both below par.
I doubt the ducks are looking forward to playing a unranked team in the Alamo bowl when they were hoping BCS.
It will come down to if our defensive line can get penetration. If not, they will turn it into a track meet and we will lose by 50.
I cringe when I read these kinds of post. We may get beaten badly or we may shine in the Bowl. As I said before OU (and took some ridicule for it) I'm going to hope for the best and if the worst happens, then I be over it before I go to sleep that night. Following football is supposed to be fun and sans optimism, it's anything but fun. Getting worked up over an *** whuppin that may never happen is about the most non-productive use of energy I can imagine.
I think the team pulls together to defy the odds and gives Mack a fitting sendoff. Hook em high like the eagles fly!
We are going to need AFLAC after the AFLAC'ing we are going to get. We are ducked. Wow, the Oregon Ducks just scored their first touchdown on us. Yuck.
Mariotta should have won the Heisman last year, he had better stats than Johnny football. A better passer and faster runner, just not as shifty. I have watched the Quack Attack for two years wishing Mariotta wore orange, We might have won the big 12 if he did,
The Alamo bowl is changing the scoreboard so that the score will be kept in Ln(x) to make it look closer.

Nearly all here hope Texas wins. Yet, if we lose, I’ll get up early Tuesday morning feed the dogs and go to work. I suspect that you and 99% of HF posters will get up Tuesday morning and do something productive… regardless of the Alamo Bowl’s final score. There’s a difference between what the heart wants and what the intelligent mind predicts. I hope every stock I own will double, but I do not expect it to occur. That’s realism, not optimism. To me, it sounds as though your rational brain expects Texas to lose the Alamo Bowl. Am I wrong? Are you planning to wager on Texas? If you believe the Longhorns will win, bet the money line. Winning that bet will pay a nice return as Oregon will be favored by at least 10. Personally, I will be thrilled if you hit the jackpot. Q: Were you surprised when Texas lost to Baylor Saturday?
Funny stuff NBHorn7! I guess we won't be the first Texans to be massacred at The Alamo, will we. Hopefully we'll go down heroically, fighting to the last Longhorn.
I think Texas makes a good game out of it, or even wins it. And I think Brown should have already resigned, so I'm no pumper. Brown does have an excellent bowl record, and it is often the best the team looks all season. Combine that with Orgeon's possible let down for playing a 3rd tier bowl and it could be a good game. Or Texas could stink it out ah lah second half v.s. Baylor. I'll watch till halftime anyway.
I'll watch it all, I guess I'm a closet masochist. Look what Fox Sports wrote about the Texas vs Oregon match-up. Scroll to about the middle of the page to see it. msn.foxsports.com/college-football/story/ultimate-bowl-viewing-guide-reasons-to-watch-all-35-games-120913
