I'm not convinced Gruden would be great here. Does he have the fire in the belly to recruit, to really embrace what it takes to be big time successfull at the college level? Has he any meaningful college head coaching experience? I do not know the answers to these questions. Not saying I would rule him out, but i do not see him as a sure thing to be the answer.
How long after his initial retirement at FL did Urban un-retire? Erin and Bucky on 104.9 today bounced around the idea Gruden would most likely go to the Cowboys than the Horns. A long-time friend I called then posed, "Why would he want to get in Jerry's mess?" E and B never talked about that. Point is made also that Gruden will have to be able to work with young men. And a comment that Chris Simms was put to task dealing with Gruden when the two were together at Tampa Bay.
Everything will be fine as long as whoever is hired never claps, never throws his players under the bus and most importantly never loses.
Think Gruden would be fine on the recruiting front. Didn't he run a QB camp for high school seniors, in conjunction with ESPN? I would love to see a senior Ash get a year with Gruden and to see if he could squeeze the orange we've all been hoping for.
He's so arrogant he can strut sitting down. When he hears THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU he thinks it is about him
