THE BEST WINS IN THE MACK BROWN ERA: In the past decade and a half Mack Brown has led the Texas Longhorns' football team to a national championship, another the BCS title game appearance and two Big 12 titles. But the Longhorns have also won games that have made statements to rivals and contenders. Here are 10 of the Longhorns' biggest victories since Brown took over. Link
I have to put the 56-35 game against OSU in 2004 in there. Down 35-7 with 4 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter and then Vince hits Bo Scaife to take it to 35-14 at the half. We come out and score then make them go 3 and out and score again to bring it within 7. The rest is history. Best comeback game ever.
I was in school from '86 to '90. I can only think of 2 games in that era that might make a list like this (OU & UH in 1990). I also particularly remember the '03 comeback victory over Tech, where Mack removed VY for the final drive and put in Mock. Had that not worked I think Mack would have roasted by the media; always thought that was one of the gutsiest calls he made.
I personally think the Arkie game of 2004 and the Ohio State game of 2005 were remarkable. Come from behind wins in the most hostile environments with a lot on the line. Doesn't get much better than that.
#1 vs USC for it all. Is there any debate? #2 last game vs aggy. Can you say scoreboard!? #3 Beating NU for the 1st time at their house. After that, it doesn't matter.
2014 Alamo Bowl win over Oregon. Mack overcomes injuries, ineligibilities, and haters to go out in style.
45-35 over OU was an awesome game. We had our best seats ever- 50 yard line, second row, upper deck. Orakpo dominated that big OU tackle and really showed his NFL potential. OU's middle linebacker was hurt, and Greg Davis used Shipley to cut up his replacement. After spotting OU two scores, the Horns put it on 'em. We even had a row of cute coeds behind us for celebratory hugs at the end.
Win at Kansas in 05. I think we were down by 6? Had 4th and 18 or so with the game on the line. VY ran for like 20 juking their best defensive player from his cleats. Went on to throw a td on that drive w/ seconds left to Tony Jeffery. Got to be in the top 10
That's a terrible list. '98 vs. NU was one of the biggest ever. '99 vs. NU and again in Lincoln in 2002 and once more in the snow in 2006 were huge as well. All were better thtan 2010 when we went 5-7. and how is the rose bowl vs. michigan not on the list? 2004 and 2005 vs. osu were better than 2008.
