Nick Saban and his Wife have weekly lunches (when not on the road) with his programs top 3 boosters. If he is not exempt from having access, neither would our new coach

    HornSwoggler-
Apparently you're not too familiar with more than just Briles, because you would know Morris is aggy if you were. How's that for a "good fit"?

Franzier... Surely you know that Darrel Royal was a sooner! The school where one played has proven in most instances to not cause much of a fit-problem for a coach. What somebody has done since the playing days, as a coach, and how he behaves, matter more for the fit.

I think many feel that Morris would fit. As I don't know the man, I can't say. He seems fine, except for things like what kind of assistants he may be able to bring in, as he will be just starting off in his HC career, and big name assistants may not come to be under him. On the O-side, it may not matter, but may be on the D-side it might?

Looking good---its not gonna be Fisher, Strong or Franklin so that leaves Briles

My dream scenario: Green Bay upsets the 49ers this weekend, Harbaugh says to heck with 49er management and the NFL and is announced as our new HC on the 7th.

Like I said, my "dream" scenario.

duke---why would Harbaugh want to go back to recruiting and all those hassles when he doesn't have to? He is already paid well and lives in one of the most desirable locations in the country

Briles isn't a spring chicken and doesn't recruit that well. Mike Leech had his team in a NC run at another lesser ex SWC school, doesn't make him the highest caliber of coach for UT.

There are far better candidates IMO. Heck Franklin at historically Rice-type program in Vandy has out-recruited Briles, Gundy & Strong, and got his team competitive in the SEC--to me a much more impressive feat.

I also like Swinney and havn't figured out why there is no talk around him.

I think Briles is a much better fit at Baylor than at Texas. I really don't think he is "big" enough. I suspect he has been successful at Baylor and Houston with some (not all, there are exceptions) players who may not be UT material, for whatever reason (academics???). Long term, I personally don't think he will be able to keep Baylor on top. Yes, he can recruit in Texas, that's great. But I would prefer someone who has more of a national appeal, and may get us some of those Florida (Strong) or California (Mora) players as well. In the end, I trust the search committee not to make a panicky, hasty decision and pick the best man for the job.
