Football advisor fired Guess they weren't too impressed with his overall record. Looks like this current management is results oriented with the bar set pretty high.
It's a shame because everything I've ever heard about Davis has been really positive. The academic results show it, obviously. Methinks Davis had something to do with Ryan's antique business coming to light, especially when she was given a promotion.
Horns11, I agree with you on this. It has to be very hard to be only one of two Div 1 schools to have perfect scores.
As an outsider I'd ask if you really need 2 people doing that job? Not addressing the Ryan stuff, it appears the AD just saved the department $220k/year. It's impressive that he kept the football program in such a lofty status. Pure conjecture but maybe the numbers he reported to the NCAA were doctored?
Just the beginning. The one thing that Steve Patterson is qualified to do is fire people for any or no reason at all. Look at Portland and Tempe.
Davis' overall football APR was lousy and he was in command when numerous academic qualification failures occurred - a Mack Brown crony like Madden and Bryant who should have been replaced years ago.
I think Branyon is probably correct. I found the following article at burntorangenation about Davis and while it sounds rather biased, it does state some facts regarding his failures. Report: Texas fires football academic advisor Brian Davis
The North Carolina academic scandal is very interesting. Maybe it's a good time to have all new people who aren't connected with the past, whatever that might include or not include.
So wouldn’t the prudent thing to happen here be that both get fired in due time and we bring in the Director at Louisville? Maybe the plan was to fire Ryan too but now it might not be necessary to create more drama depending on how the investigation goes…
