Saw one on the road today. The gene pool has definitely been depleted and went south.

Greg Abbott is hardly an improvement.

If ever there was a sign that Texas politics is dysfunctional, it's that these two are our candidates for governor.

^Wrong, BI - Greg is a decidedly better alternative than Wendy. My cat would be preferable to Wendy.

BI, you voting for Wendy? Is she the clear Libertarian choice vs Abbott?

It's funny how anytime you show BI a pathetic dem candidate, he tries to play it off as the Rep counterpart is just as bad. There is a huge different between the two. Even if Greg was or is not up to par as an ideal candidate, he's still way more better then Wendy. If you don't see that then you are more messed up that we originally thought.

    "way more better"

what is the big different anyway?

They both come across as narcissistic jerks.

He is rich because of suing a homeowner on a bs claim and she graduated from Harvard and brags about it

I hope the libertarians or young communists or vegetarians are running candidates.

If you think Perry is bad wait until you get hold of Abbott. Texas will be viewed as to the right of Atilla the Hun! Wendy def better choice

Like it or not, most elections come down to voters feelings rather than an intellectual weighing of the policies.

One area where I agree with Davis is that there should be a law against texting while driving. Every day I drive I have people looking at their telephones creep into my lane or make suffer through an additional traffic signal change. Texting drivers cause a lot of wrecks and endanger us all when they spend a second or five ignoring what's going on outside the car even as they travel 30-60 miles per hour.

I know Perry and Abbott see this as a personal freedom issue. A lot of my friends used to like to drive around drinking beer and even claimed to be more relaxed and better drivers after 3 or 4. The law is not their friend on this issue, nor should it be. Idiotic driving is almost impossible to self-diagnose. There is a need for the guys with the red and blue lights to bring some sanity to the process.

I'm a pretty conservative guy but I hate the perry/Abbott clowns with a passion. Doubt I vote for Wendy but I won't be voting for Abbott either. Maybe kinky will run again.

The first dem that I will have maybe ever voted for will be van de putte. She is actually worse than Wendy but Patrick scares this **** out of me. The guy is an absolute nut job. For him to be the most powerful person in Texas is a bad thing for everybody and how the right leaning independents get turned off to conservatism. He and Abbott will not get along.

I agree that water is a huge issue facing texas. What would the libertarian position on water be? Haven't given it much thought.

I agree with Huisache, BI, and Larry. Abbott (aka Rick Perry on Wheels) and Davis are both ****. They may be somewhat different kinds of ****, but that's of little consequence. Personally, I was a Tom Pauken supporter. He ran an actual policy-oriented campaign, so of course, the dolts who vote in GOP primary elections went with the guy who has no issues or ideas but is an inflammatory critic of the Obama Administration.

I agree with Larry on Dan Patrick. Spewhurst was useless, but Patrick is a total buffoon. I doubt I'll vote for Van de Putte. Admittedly, she's more appealing than Davis, because she didn't make herself famous for being an extreme pro-abort and doesn't act like a smug *****. However, she's actually more liberal than Davis. The bottom line in that I'll probably vote third party in both races.

FYI - Larry, the Kinkster ran as a Democrat for Ag Commissioner and lost to dairy farmer Jim Hogan, who will face colossal handjob (and unethical) Sid Miller in the general election. I doubt Kinky will run for governor as an independent again, though if he did, I'd vote for him.

Something's happened the past several years that's made nearly all of us sick of politics.

I confess to impatience with the Rep side of things. But then the Dem side is so full of themselves... the "we're the smart ones, we get it" bravado. Everything is about ridicule and disdain, condescension toward "them" that don't get it. Guess that's a part of compassion they felt okay to leave out. You know, respecting those who differ somewhat with your agenda.

Anyway, Obama will have ruined 8 years of my life, but many Texans feel Perry ruined 12 years of theirs. If Wendy Wins.. Well, the thing is, if Presidents and Governors would just shut up and disappear and not be heard from... you know, govern, sign things, be a good leader and stay out of politics after getting elected... make appointments, do the thing your office says you do, but just, gosh, give the public a holiday and vacation from having to hear from you all the time. It was enough getting through the election, so enough already.

I would be happy if Wendy got the job, if she would be quiet and let the House and Senate do their job and stay out of legislation. Same for the Presidents. When the nation was founded on Liberty, I think a lot of it was freedom from the government. Especially the Chief Enchilada.

A candidates stance on texting as a point of support vs non support, we've come a long way!!!

Maybe Wendy should add to her bumper sticker what Representative Trey Martinez-Fisher says the GOP stands for?

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Go sell crazy somewhere else... we're all stocked up here!

I am not real fond of Greg or especially of Wendy but Greg is the lesser of two evils for sure. I hope Perry retires from political life forever... and does not run for POTUS and embarrasses all Texans again [IMG]

Where is Kinky when you need him!? [IMG]

Kinky has never been needed for anything; he was a crummy musician, a below mediocre novelist and a suckup to those in power.

Just another ego looking for a shelter

The problem is that the others are completely in their element on the political trail and they are giant douches.

I like Kinky, but he isn't a good candidate. It doesn't matter that most politicians also suck.

the english prof was either incompetent or pulling your brother's leg. Read a good mystery and then read one of Kinky's. He is a step above comic books and his humor is by way of Aggie Jokes books and MAD knockoffs. Very sophomoric.
And he has never added one bit to the political conversation on any subject.

His campaigns have all been publicity stunts

that is true of her campaign and most others but unlike Kinky, she most definitely has an agenda and it is not limited to abortion.

I don't actually support kinky, just showing my displeasure with the two terrible options. Wendy's platform is a lot less liberal than people think but she will never win in Texas because she is famous for the abortion filibuster. Most people on here will find a way to vote for Abbott saying that he's better than Wendy all while ignoring what a hypocritical, corrupt, piece of **** he is. The message to the Republican Party of Texas is to keep rolling out the giant douchebags and we will vote for them because they have an R next to their name and <insert criticism of dem here>. I used to play that game too but they lost me with Patrick. When Texas goes purple, republicans will blame Mexicans moving here, yankees moving here, Californians moving here, liberal media, liberal schools, liberal anything. The truth will be that they ran **** candidates for 20 years and people got tired of it and started staying home or considering dems.

Sorry, "He's 'much better than her." I stand by that. Not because I think he's great, She is a ding bat to the core. She is in the same shoes as Obama, they just don't lie when their lips move they also suck so bad that anyone else looks better by default.

Just guessing but I think the percentage of people who are eligible to register to vote who actually do vote is in decline. Am I incorrect in assuming that a lower percentage of people are registering and less of those voting than say 20 years ago?

Perhaps it is a function of age but I just can't get much enthusiasm for any candidate anymore. I am 66 so maybe I have just seen too much of it.
