"Four-star wide receiver John Burt (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) committed to Texas on Sunday afternoon in a press conference at his grandparent's house in Tallahassee." -Horns 247 Hook'em and #LetsRide!!!!
It's amazing that it's taken this long to kind of "catch up" to out-of-state talent and start pulling dudes in. For years, we were winning with Texas kids and Mack wouldn't even bother going after out-of-state guys who could have possibly helped us because it would burn bridges with HS coaches. When we stopped winning, for the main reasons that the top in-state athletes weren't choosing Texas and the HS talent we were getting was suspect/lazy, Mack wouldn't budge on the recruiting front.
I'm starting to believe that CS’ no nonsense, no tolerance approach is gaining traction. Parents have to love it. Couple that with a reasonable initial season and we might see some very exciting things happen on the recruiting front this fall.
Charlie don't surf and he does not evade recruiting good out of state talent! Congratulations John Burt!!!
More good stuff... imagine this kind of leadership carrying (do it on the field, lead it off the field) the flag for all that Charlie Strong stands for in a program.... This from Hornsports (via Warchant, via OB) The Link
I'd take a post-Ohio State Limas Sweed any day. Sounds like a good kid as well as a potential impact player.
Wonder if Charlie will over look Mack's "You can't take other Visits" philosophy or just let it ride out.
