Getting ISIS to a "manageable state" is challenge enough, I don't think there is a solution for the jihadist problem spanning the globe. At least, I'm not smart enough to do it. I was hoping you were. The one surprising element among the myriad of foreign policy fires going on is Russia. I'm trying to understand their angle at inciting another Cold War. Is it hubris? A fear of Western ideals being on their borders and potentially overwhelming their Oligarchy? Maybe a yearning for their Cold War power?

I'm confused...help elucidate this for me because the only words that you leveraged from your statement and the quote you attributed to Obama were "manageable state". Of course, he also used it in context to ISIS and you decided to generalize and say "islamists (by any name" even extending it to some inane AQ reference. I asked you specifically about the context because you deliberately, as it par for the course, took the comment out of context and peanut buttered it to a worldwide jihadist problem as if there is some simple solution. So again, I'll ask what is your solution to the "islamist (by any name)" problem? Obama should be criticized for being slow to react to ISIS. You should be criticized for the continual attempt to pull Obama quotes out of context like this one and the previous "ISIS is JV" (Obama - January) quote that you compared to Hagel's description of ISIS in August. Context is important. You don't need to embellish or twist the words to be critical. Leave that to the right-wing blogosphere.

Clearly stating that you have no plan is an idiotic statement that would get any one of us managers fired. Then blaming it on the pentagon doubles up on that stupidity. The Pentagon has warned Obama on the threat for over a year and 6 months befoe Obama's JV statement. Further, the Pentagon has multiple plans regarding ISIS. It is Obama who has no clue how he wants to proceed. And it is Obama who spends little time with Pentagon planners to help develop a plan. And it is Obama who refuses to work with Congress and develop a consensus.

A lot of what Putin says is for domestic consumption and the Russian people seem to be eating it up. His approval ratings in Russia are over 90 percent.
