Disappointing loss, but I like Ty’s development and his progress tonight.

Concur. Wish he would run with a little less hesitation, but he will be a good one.

Two things, don't run him as much and when he stops staring down his receivers...look out!

Played well, but like a freshman. His speed has to get quicker; faster release, faster decision-making.

Y'all do realize that a former walk on QB (and son of the team's former head coach) just won the game for them. Swoopes could be the second coming of VY or McCoy, but it will be tough for him (or anyone else) to thrive in any offense led by Shawn Watson. Watson needs to go, and the quicker the better IMO. It wasn't superb, and that last 4th down pass was pretty bad, but most of the game he played pretty well. What I'm most impressed by is that most of the passes he threw on the run - to the right or to the left - were just as accurate as his comfortable pocket throws. He won't have to be a good scrambler as long as he can buy himself some time to make those throws.

Funny thing is Swoopes has performed admirably given little to work with. While his coaches (Watson, Strong) have failed miserably last 2 games. Maybe Swoopes should tell them "why don't you go manage the game and not try to be great, while I go win this mofo".

Swoopes has improved very much. The team has imporved over last season IMO. The coaches are doing the best they can with the talent they have.

How many of the offensive team could start for UCLA? Maybe Brown.

I think Watson is doing an unbelievable job with him.

have seen no spark that says he can put the game on his shoulders and win it.....maybe in time...

Hard to say since we didn't get to see the UCLA receivers in action a whole lot, and we don't really know how good Shipley is since we've never seen him play a whole season healthy with a top-level passer.

I like how Swoops has looked so far. He's already better than Ash, and hopefully he'll keep improving.

Please, do not compare him to VY, There is no comparison. He is not even the dual threat QB we were led to believe. He is not a run threat.

VY is the single greatest college football player I have ever seen period. I have seen a lot. Montano, Campbell, Bo Jackson and Walker. VY is the best to this point in the history of the game.

Swoopes has been much better than I thought he would be. He is a pocket passer and can throw on the run. He's not as good as a runner as I thought though. We gave that game away and I think that we are on the right track. Nobody thought we would win that game.

Swoopes has been a welcome, pleasant surprise. Whatever criticisms one may have of Strong and Watson, and they deserve some after the play calling and time management in the last three minutes against UCLA, they have done a masterful job of bringing Jalen up to speed.

His biggest problem now is the inability of the O line to pass protect. They will be struggling mightily against good front sevens all season.

Swooooooooops.. He is a baller and far better than Ash has been the last few seasons. He has a strong and fairly accurate arm, he does through the ball high at times. I like the way he rolls out and throws the ball.

He is a big dude and if he can make a quicker decision to run I think he can at least get a few first downs, he doesnt have break away speed but is big enough to earn a few first downs.

Thanks Ash for you effort, go get your degree and be safe dude your life isnt worth playing any more.

Best arm by a Texas QB since Simms. Man he can spin it. You put him in the right system and he could be deadly.

If football doesn't workout, I heard he was a standout baseball player also. Could you imagine him coming out of the bullpen to close a game for Augie?

Swoopes has progressed, but I kept wtg for UCLA to jump those routes and nail us with pick sixes. Same with BYU the week before.

Hopefully Watson calls some deep passes early on in games to prevent DB's jumping these short routes we're married to

I mistakenly referred to him as "Jalen." Sorry. TYRONE is doing remarkably well. He is accurate, has a strong arm and will get better with each game.

His problem is the offensive line. It cannot hold out a good d line. Our guys will struggle mightily against good defenses.

Somehow Watson will have to mix in some long balls to at least give opponents the thought that we might go over the top. Tyrone has the arm to go deep. And Harris has the speed and athleticism to get open deep. As do other receivers on this team.

Its all about protecting him until the route opens downfield.
