The good thing about this is that as tough as it is to move on from football, it's going to provide him a lot of other opportunities and motivations to move forward outside of playing football. It's a decision everyone has to make eventually, and it has to be tough to do it with so many "what-ifs" remaining. At the end of the day, it's having to give up playing a game - it could be a whole lot worse than that!
Thanks, David, and best of luck. I'm sorry you never really got to build on that great performance against Oregon St. in the Alamo Bowl. Now, get your degree and have a great life.
Thanks for sharing your talent, David; I got to see you play as a Belton Tiger and as a Texas Longhorn, and you were good, never doubt it! Best of Luck
What a wimp. If he comes to Norman, Stoops will play him. All kidding aside. Always sad to see someone have to hang up the cleats for reasons other than a lack of talent, like myself. Just glad he did it know and not after a catastrophic event.
A wimp? Alright you swooner, gooner, land thief, get off our board and crawl back to the ces-, um, err ... oops, you were just kidding. What I meant to say the entire time was thanks for the good wishes, it's nice when stuff like giving a crap about people's health and their lives after football transcend the "hate" of rivalries. [In all seriousness, I did start to get really pissed for about 1.5 seconds before I saw the second part of your post, and then I felt stupid. ]
Thanks, David, for what you did on the field. Now go and be a credit to yourself and the university off the field as well. Hook 'em!
David, I am raising boys, and if they grow up and handle themselves with the class, integrity, and overall character you have I will be one proud father!
