The Link Most of these kids are verbally committed to another program. It will be interesting to see how many, if any, decide to flip and play for the Horns. #letsride
I think it's a game that the new staff is trying out. Throwing **** against the wall to see what sticks. It sends a message to SEC-area recruits that we're not shying away from recruiting the hotbeds. Mack didn't want to alienate Texas HS coaches. Strong knows that tactic didn't work from 2010 onward. Time to see if anyone bites in other dominant HS areas.
i'm wondering what this says about strong's confidence in landing guys like boyd, sheffield, and hill. or maybe it's just a pressure cooker tactic...commit now or lose your spot.
Thank you, Joe, but there is no positive way to spin this. Maybe Chuck can hire KornFerry to get some kids out of Idaho.
We recruited the ghetto before, you bring a great athlete to the program no doubt, questionable if they can adhere to the Core values.........
Don't all big time coaches at big time programs offer many more kids than slots available. I would think this would have to be done, because all good players have multiple offers, and no coach is gonna sign all the players they offer. So I don't understand; is there an issue with the offers? Whoever signs first gets the scholly. If we have 3 spots for DB's we sign the first three of the seven who stay committed. If we hold one for a 5 star and he doesn't sign, then we open it for someone else come January.
Yea, the let 31 jump over you and into Chris Simms play........The punt hit the pylon by the way, the ball should have been placed at the 20.
Yes very thin in the secondary. And even thinner at Line Backer. Outof staters sounds good to me. A player is a player no matter where he comes from.
I don't think it matters all that much. Kids are going to play where they think they can play, win, have great facilities, hot chicks and get exposure. If TX wins big and is after a player, a HS coach is going to look like an idiot trying to sway a stud away from a top program. Then kids will want to play at other HS programs that are sending players to top college programs. Too much is made of this HS coach *** kiss play.
Two words: John Mackovic Mackovic pissed off almost every HS coach in Texas and it showed on the field.
I expect that J. Mac. in his years at Texas, recruited as many top Playeds as M. B. in same time. J. Mac just could come up with a defense.
If the kids from Florida turn out to be stars, out-of-state recruiting won't cause hard feelings, . The way Texas high school coaches see it, according to a Dallas Morning News Article on the downward spiral of SMU under June Jones, was giving scholarship to players who weren't very good. They'd hate to see a full-ride going to an out of state kid who can't play when they coached some nice kids who would enjoy a free ride too.
I would add that if you are a high school coach and you can get your players into programs like Texas, I am sure you would be quite happy to do so, even if you prefer they go to A&M, Baylor, TCU or Tech. Most coaches are probably just proud to have one of their players go to a great program.
I like going after OOS recruits. At this point with the program being "down" I say ... bring on how ever has skills from wherever they come from . If Texas Kids don't want to sign up for next year, bring on equal if not better talent from else where.
