Picture a marriage for 30 years.
Couple 19, end of freshman year, marry.
30 years later they are 49.

He's CEO of major hi-tech company.
Their common good friend in college is CEO of a startup, racing to the top. He's now a major competitor.

She has an affair, breaks up and runs off to marry that CEO of the startup.

Two years later she finds herself at a conference with her ex-husband. Her new husband is in China and on assignment there for 6 weeks to bring up to speed an affiliate company.

Should these two ex's sleep together?

The whole idea of A&M is simple. They HAD A LOCKED-IN SCHEDULE in all sports with Texas. Men's and Women's.

They... pause for moment and dwell on this... they ELECTED TO QUIT.

    1. They are 90 miles from Austin
    2. They have played UT in sports for a century.
    3. They elected to quit regularly scheduled sports in all levels.
    4. To play teams and programs to the east, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
    5. They elected to quit playing Baylor as well. And have almost as long a history.

They elected. They voted. They chose. To quit all regularly schedule competition with two programs... UT and Baylor... they'd been playing for about a century each. With alums all over the state from all three universities, often inside same families and relatives.

    Elected to quit.

Please think about that. What the hell in the name of all the stars and heavens would even make it make sense for A&M to play either Texas or Baylor after that?

The ultimate of denial of Truth. [IMG] To play them again anytime before 2050 is Sick. Twisted. Perverted.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

To me, the UT - aggy relationship / rivalry is like a long time bad marriage - that turned into a nasty ugly DIVORCE. This possible bowl game is like - a couple of years after the divorce some of your in-laws are hoping they can get you back together and try to sell you both on a special dinner date and dancing. Neither one of you is interested in that date - to many of us it is unthinkable, upsetting or nauseating.

I'm gonna say it.....many people don't wanna play aggie because we might lose and they continue the recruiting swing. We should play em....win lose whatever....we are a 2-3 year project at this point. I love what Coach Strong is doing but the reality is we are gonna lose some really key players this year and lots of uncertainty going into next year again. We should play anybody and everybody......Always despised Paterno and Penn St. when they declined the Cotton Bowl invitation in 69.....then bitched because they were undefeated too. Came to the Cotton bowl two years later and trounced us 30-6 and tried to say SEE....even though the Worster bunch was long gone

Aggy won't risk having to back up all their talk on the field.
    Not gonna happen.

The Texas Bowl folks would make out like bandits. The schools, not so much, given the Texas Bowl payout.

The Bowl payout for us would be the same, everyone gets an equal share from Bowl money. Now the expenses that you have for each bowl are different. Texas would break even, we would sell 30-40K tickets.

Most schools who lose money do so because they can't sell their tickets.

i've yet to see anything indicating that the texas brass is even interested in this game. i've also yet to see anything officially from A&M folks saying that they wouldnt be interested in the game either.

truth of the matter is that i bet neither side is interested in reviving the game in a tier 3 bowl.

chip is trying to set a narrative that suits him best--that A&M is afraid of playing UT in a bowl, which i find highly doubtful. unwilling? maybe. but not afraid.

chip later followed up with this tweet:

What would Jerry Jones pay to get this two together early in the season at the Death Star? And that money wouldn't have to be shared with Vanderbilt and Texas Tech.

The SEC would not be saying something like that unless they were getting messages from AM. I do not think that the SEC would just flat out say that there will be no Texas-AM game without consulting AM.

    Are you really that dense?

I do not want to play AM, because you are a bunch of lose bag quitters but that is another issue, Texas will play anybody it is matched up against in a bowl.

The only thing that the SEC can hang or try here is that the seeding of the SEC should not be disrupted, which will be a bunch of croc if any of this is true.

both sides want to play this game when it suits their personal interests.

so fans of the game have to hope that at some point a sweet spot occurs where it suits both team's interest.

really the only way i see that happening is if we meet in the playoffs or in one of the non playoff top tier bowls.

Not sure how credible this piece on SB Nation is but I can see the logic of us wanting to play A&M.

    Bring it On!!
