The most excited I've been in a longtime. The future is bright. Can't wait to see these ladies back in Austin.

Four players in double digits, led by Nneka, 18; Ariel 16; Kelsey 14 and Empress 13. and Brady with 9; Brooke 8; Brianna 6 and Celina 3. Kelsey just missed a double double with 9 rebs.

Stanford had Thompson with 28 and Orrange with 15 as the only ones in double figures.

This really has to give a lot of confidence to Kelsey about playing against elite teams with foul trouble. She played 8+ minutes with four fouls. Ariel and Brooke came up big. Brooke did a great job against Thompson. She has the quickness and speed to stay with Thompson. Even picked her pocket once and covered her like a wet blanket on Stanford's last possession, forcing her into a pass that Brady picked off.

Definitely a signature win for the team. Now they need not to have a letdown against UCLA on Sunday.

Time to savor this win for a while. [IMG]

Seeing lots of kudos from the UConn fans over @ the Boneyard. Even one suggested a home-and-home series!

Wow! I haven't seen a Texas team look that good against top competition in many years. That felt like the old days. Everyone played fantastically. They were so cool under pressure. So few turnovers. Lots of fouls, but that's the way the game was called. Is this Empress the same one who was on the team two years ago? I loved her handshake with Tara when she fouled out. The hire of Karen is looking pretty brilliant at this point. I'm concerned about Nekia. We did it without her, but she brings so much and I hope gets back soon. Same with Imani, of course.

Just goes to show you never know. Following our lame performance against UTSA, and after watching Stanford beat Connecticut, I almost posted that Stanford was going to massacre us, but thought "why depress everybody." Amazing victory, the best in at least a decade. And without Imani. Stanford's not a super team, but they're good and they just beat Connecticut, and to take them down in their own gym... This was a lightning bolt for women's college basketball. It reminds me of the beginnings of Jodi Condradt's last great run. when her unheralded young UT squad came out of nowhere to upset Tennessee in Knoxville. After all these years of mediocrity, this is a thrill. This is a young squad, that will have its ups and downs. But a good team is one that can win on the road against the best competition. Finally, we can say we're good again.

Just great team victory! Well-deserved, too! Lots of adversary yesterday, but the "team" pulled together. Great preparation by the staff. The players showed a mental toughness that we hadn't seen under this coaching staff.

Will enjoy all the positive feelings for the next couple of days; it's been a while since we've had such a program-defining moment.

You know newspapers are dying when Austin's hometown rag doesn't even run an article about Texas ' biggest win in women's basketball in a decade. And the game ended before 10:30.p.m. CST. This should have been front-page of the Sports section and instead we get a front-page feature on upcoming UFC fight. Lordy.

AAS has a fairly brief story is on page two of the Sports Section, but I agree that this win should have been covered on page one of Sports.

I agree that I expected the story to be on the front page but the article on page two was at the top and was a quarter of the page, They did cover it and it was not a brief story nor was it overlooked.

I am never happen with the overall coverage of UT women sports by the AAS but they do surprise you at times.
