I don't have a problem with having a game on Thanksgiving against someone other than Aggy, but I just wish we'd pick 1 opponent and stick with it so we can have every other year scheduling and enrich the new rivalry. The every year in Austin against different teams sucks. I get the family thing but reality is we've dealt with the TG game scenario for a long time, so not sure why its an issue now unless its the opponent that is the issue.
I guess I'd vote Baylor to be the thanksgiving turkey err opponent the Horns should play every T-Day. Especially if Briles remains their coach.
Count me as a supporter of the Thanksgiving Game. I really like it because, unlike T+1, there are less distractions. In fact, football on Thanksgiving is an American tradition, and I really like the somewhat exclusive exposure. With regard to the opponent, that's a crap shoot. I found many of the TAM games to be only marginally relevant. By contrast, the TCU game this year has national implications. Given the rising strengths of both TCU and Baylor, those teams would seem to be good choices going forward. Even for those who would like to see the TAM rivalry renewed, to state the obvious, because of their defection to the SEC, the probability of that game returning seems quite low.
The T-Day game needs to end because it is not important anymore. It is supposed to be against a rival on national TV. Now it is against a rotating opponent being shown on FS1 while A&M plays LSU on ESPN. Thanks to Deloss Dodds for helping to create this situation. We would all be better off if he had retired about 10 years earliuer.
There is no football tonight. Not a single game. After these afternoon games end, college football shuts down for the day. It's a big sports TV potential slot that is wide open. Why don't we fill it in the future instead of competing with a couple of other games plus the NFL night game?
I said there would be 5-10,000 empty seats, but I was way off, it was a lot closer to 20,000 with huge sections empty. There were either a lot of fans dressed up as empty seats last night or exactly what many said would happen did. If that game was today or tomorrow wouldnt have had 80,000 tops in the stands.
I had a great time even though we lost. The weather was great and so was TCU. For those of you who choose to be elsewhere, be elsewhere. If we were 10-1 the joint would have been full. If we played on Saturday and the place was full then 50k would have left early instead of 40k, which is what happened I've been going to games since 1969 and had season tickets since the early 80s and Texas fans are the same-----big fans of winning, sore losers, who like to boo when things don't go their way. I've never gone to a game where I didn't stay to sing The Eyes but there were maybe 25k left for that last night and about a third or more were TCU fans. Nice bunch of folks and I was happy for them. For those of you who would change the venerable tradition of playing on Thanksgiving, find another team.
