I love me some Horns, but that damn Tcu QB is fast, agile and damned if he doesn't have two fast, agile backs, and a couple of receivers to throw to. Plus, I'm afraid their defense is a little better than our offense.

I'm picking the horny toads in a close, low scoring affair.

I am feeling frisky today, so I will be the mongoose to your snake.

Coach Vance has the D prepared for a monster T-Day game and the O scores just enough.

I'm totally on the kool-aid... I would not be surprised if we lost, but I really have a feeling about this game... I feel we can win it with pure heart...

    On any given Sat...Thursday...

This game is so intriguing. I am convinced that the Horns have the talent, the desire and the coaching to shut down Boykin and the TCU offense, but it will take some early slobber knocking. I have a good feeling...

TCU hasn't fared so well away from home in the Big 12. Their yardage advantage on the road was 3 of their 4 lowest all season. -297 to Baylor, +32 over WV, +45 over KU. On the road in conference they lost to Baylor by 3, beat WV by 1, and knocked off lowly KU by 4. Not nearly as dominant as they've been at home.

The Horns put up a gutsy warrior effort, still see TCU coming out on top by late TD with legit playoff chances on the line.

Im all over the pale on this one. I fear our O will get bogged down in this one and TCU will get more than a couple cheap scores on a short field.

Man...who can tell with this bunch. Whatever happens, i won't be suprised.

It starts and ends, imho, on QB. If we put pressure on the TCU QB, force them to punt more than they are used to and maybe into some drive ending mistakes (or better, turnovers) AND if Swoopes plays an average + game I like our chances. He does not have to win the game, just not lose it. Throw the ball away if he doesn't have anything and don't go for that extra yard, lay down.

I say if we win the QB battle we win by 10 points.

In 1961, how much was Texas favored in that game?

Undefeated Texas was favored by 25 points [IMG]

    25 points.

Eight years later I was sharing a house with a grad student who had been in Moore Hill Hall that year (where the athletes roomed at the time). He said a player told him after the game, "They just beat us up all afternoon."

This group could do the same thing.
When the ball is snapped, you can beat up the other guy all night long.

I'm gonna a bank on the 'CowBell factor'.
If the DKR crowd goes full tilt - making the '90 UH game seem like a knitting circle and we get ahead of 'em early....
Froggie may get so tight they might not get back into it, even if we are only ~ 10-up on 'em.

I GOTTA HAVE MORE COWBELL !!!

14okihorn is on to something... MORE COWBELL!!!

In the olden days of the 50's, 60's, 70's the LHB all had cowbells they rang during the game... not sure what year they disappeared.

Re: TCU. The DKR crowd needs to be full tilt boogie Thurs. night and greatly disrupt Boykin and the frog O with a wall of noise. When the Horns O is playing of course, the crowd needs to quiet the cowbells and noise.

It depends on whether Swoopes can handle an elite defense and he hasn't shown that yet. And it depends on whether the Texas D can handle a good duel threat QB, and they haven't shown that yet. I hope those two circumstances occur on T-day but I'm not convinced it will happen.

Our DE's contain Boykin while Malcom and Hassan make him miserable. Our LB's and DB's confuse him and pick him off twice. The whole defense tackles well. Swoopes stays cool in the pocket and makes good decisions. Malcolm and Jonathan have strong days. Daje houses one. Harris continues his Gaskamp season.

Well, I was right about one thing: "Swoopes stays cool in the pocket and makes good decisions." I should be a coach. [IMG]

Just now sobered up enough after the debacle Thurs. night to come back to this thread and see who got close to picking the score....

Looks like my good friend Dillohorn got it right with both of his predictions:

"31-21 toads ........hope I'm wrong. Swoopes hiccups". [IMG]

He only needed to move some points over from the UT score over to the TCU side of the ledger. As for Swoopes, he didn't hiccup Thurs. - he THREW UP... the ball!

I didn't think we would score enough to win, thus my prediction of a low scoring, close loss.

But neither did I think Tyrone would turn it over six times, leading to 31 points. [IMG]
