Obvious there is a huge mental side to the QB position. VY was a winner because he had the Nth degree by a factor of IT, squared. He literally was going to take you down.

The quarterback here needs to pass some kind of Hell Week you'd expect at Quantico Bay, plus intense grilling with a light in his face, maybe kidnapped and taken blindfolded inside a cargo container hauled by a Navy "Hewy" (as in A-Team movie) and find out if he's got NERVES and WILL.

Regardless of physical stature, QBs at Texas have nearly always been able to deal with the unbelievable pressure. Of course I never have, so can't really talk.

There is a chance Tyrone just needs time to learn how to deal with the position but it's beginning to look like he doesn't have the requisite "it". If he can't find "it" by next season he will become the valuable back up with starting experience. And that's, o.k. It looked like he was going to turn the corner, but he looks good against average defenses and melts against good ones.

TCU hardly has a good defense.

Speaking of, how many dropped interceptions does our defense have tomight?

Six wins or not, this team doesn't deserve to go to a bowl game.

TCU has a competent defense with competent DBs and enough of a D line to expose our O line and keep Swoopes uncomfortable. That's all it really takes.

On that last Tex 3rd down throw... soon as it was released, I was thinking"why bother?" I hate underneath throws for 3 yards most anytime, and anything short of a 1st down on 3rd down with a tackler right in your face.

The announcer then said sometimes you need to not take what the defense give you; you need to take what you need. Go for it.

Tcu trying to run up the score to impress the playoff committee. Another TD and they just put up over 40.

I remember Coach Strong saying after the BYU game that we would never be embarrassed at home again. He lied.

TCU going to try to run it up for style points in the playoff race.

Aggy loses and now the talk will start again for us to play them in a crappy bowl. Bad night all around. The defense finally couldn't hold up any longer. That's a shame for the defense that gave a good effort with no help and was put in bad position most of the game.

Diggs and Swoopes picked a bad night for their worse performances.

We need to turn down any bowl game. It is a joke that we could even get an invite. This is just sickening. Swooped

Briles must be sick right about now.
He's got to show something against K-State.

    What an embarrassment. SMH
We aren't very good against very good teams. I can't wait what Heard can do next year because Tyrone at this point is not the answer.

Would much rather have TCU over Baylor. Art Briles is an a hole to the power of infinity.

A gamesmanship attitude is missing . Can you recruit for that. Screw stats, go for moxie and gamesmanship. Ask " are you a winner? We can coach you the rest of the game. But we can't coach you TO BE a winner."

Next can the coaches spot a winner?

Swoopes is awful, but I don't see any viable options at the start of next season. Heard is allegedly just as much of a project as Swoopes was out of high school. Maybe that kid from New Mexico will save us, but I'm not holding my breath.

Heard is much further along than Swoopes was at this point last year. Heck, Heard was further along when he was probably 16. The coaches made a conscious decision to create a David Ash west-coast playbook. They abandoned any style that Heard might have played while growing up, and told him he'd be shirting so that he could learn it and be the next Teddy Bridgewater in a few years.

There's no comparison in the recruiting videos for Swoopes and Heard. Heard is faster, stronger, makes better decisions, has a more accurate arm, and has the "VY" attitude of putting a team on his shoulders and getting it done, whether through the air or his feet. Swoopes looked like a man among boys in 2A ball, but he was slow, inaccurate, and quite frankly, a guy who lost well over half his high school starts. Mack was so desperate to make up ground for missing out on Luck, Griffin, Manziel, and whoever else, he went for the VY clone without the VY ability.

This staff should have burned Heard's shirt against BYU. They didn't. They blew it.

They would have burned Heard's redshirt if they thought he was the answer.

According to Ketch and Co over on OB, Swoopes was a far superior passer (hard to believe I know) to Heard in preseason practice. Of course Heard only enrolled in the fall. He missed spring practice.

Heard won in high school because he was a leader and a great athlete. I saw Heard in the championship game last year. He ran for about 150 and passed for 100 or so. Running is his strength, not passing.
