Assignment of illegals to U.S. Citizens. Each U.S. citizen should be required to house, feed, clothe, educate, and provide healthcare to one illegal alien....Oh wait. We're already doing that!
I'm doing my part with a landscaper that comes every 2 weeks and my wife is a middle school teacher after spending many years at a Title 1 elementary school.
They might as well live in your house, you're already supporting them with the taxes you pay. It costs about $300 per day to "detain" people at the South Texas Family Detention Center or $109,500 per year. Hell, I'll take 3 or 4 of them if the guberment will pay me $109,500 a year each. A person in my neighborhood who ran a constuction business had some living in a barn at the back of their property. I guess they were used as laborers. I don't know all the details. The guy next door complained to the Sherriff because the smell became intolerable. Don't know what happend, but they were soon gone.
Like the cost of incarceration, that number seems high to me. I'm sure it's extrapolated from official government data but my "lies, damn lies and statistics" radar is going off. With that said, those same people hiding in the barn are paying sales tax. Other illegal immigrants are paying social security tax under other people's SSN's and will never recover that tax because they won't file a return. I'm not saying it's an even trade as far as the tax payer funded services but it's certainly not 1-sided. With that said, the only way to stop illegal immigration is for the economies of the nations they are emigrating from to turn around. From my experience, they aren't coming here because they want to live in your house. They simply need $$$ to feed/house their families. My landscaper's family all still lives in Mexico. He literally disappears for a few months a year when he returns to see his family.
Those who dislike illegal aliens should put their money where their mouths are by quitting their jobs and going to work picking lettuce in California!
