Have you been to Spokane? She may still be the closest thing to African American in that city. Just look at the Gonzaga University basketball program as evidence at how "ethnic" Spokane is.
So if someone now claims to be trans-racial, will they get preferential treatment on applications for college, work or government contracts? This could get interesting.
I do not know that I would call it an operation, but humanity has had the capability of appearing to be another race for quite some time. It's far easier and cheaper than a sex change. However, modern society generally greatly frowns upon doing such a thing. Tom Hanks' son sort of did sort of the same thing to a far lesser extent recently and without the use of blackface. http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/03/entertainment/chester-hanks-chet-haze-n-word-feat/
Like Mr. Deez, I simply can't fathom this one. I am enjoying the AA community response on twitter though. There are some witty responses.
Someone pointed out the other day on Twitter that the only responses that seem to be coming from the tranny brigade on that comparison tends to be one of three varieties: "f*ck you" "LOL!" or "race is different- it cannot be changed." Better yet is that this story broke so soon after the Frankenbruce cover was released and the New York Times ran their op-ed that questioned his claims...
Besides all the unusual aspects of this situation, when will some officials get serious about the fraudulent actions she has taken to achieve what she has? If they have, maybe I have just not seen or heard them.
Surprisingly, the NCAAP has handled this better than anyone. Ultimately, they've stated they don't care what her ethnicity is and simply recognize her leadership that she's displayed in her role since she's held it. Kudos to the NCAAP for looking past race in driving AA issues.
I don't think this was like a spray-on tan or makeup, but I admit I know little about women's cosmetics / makeup. I would imagine with a world full of women of various races, ethnicities and cultures that want to achieve a certain look, a woman can probably get just about any shade of makeup she wants. Evidently this woman found a make-up that seemed to pass her off as she desired.
I moved from spokane in HS right before i went to UT. Its a truely great place with very little racial animosity. Yeah, i know, 90 percent white will do that for you. Still, every pre-teen i met from there in the 2000's wanted to be black. .... Hence the term Spo-kompton.
She resigned her role as President of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP say "is in the best interest of the NAACP".
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...-racial-discrimination-because-she-was-white/ This story..... just keeps going.
Back in the 60s their was a book called "Black Like Me". It documented the experiences of a white guy who "became black" and traveled around the segregated South of that day. Of course, he was shat upon, which was kind of the point of the whole thing. According to Wikipedia, "In the autumn of 1959, John Howard Griffin went to a friend's house in New Orleans, Louisiana. Once there, under the care of a dermatologist, Griffin underwent a regimen of large oral doses of the anti-vitiligo drug methoxsalen, trade name Oxsoralen, and spending up to fifteen hours daily under an ultraviolet lamp." Maybe Dolezal was taking methoxsalen and hanging out at tanning salons. Anywho, racial identification may be the next domino to fall. Why not? In this bizarre world we live in, it makes perfect sense.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/06/16/rachel-dolezal-i-identify-as-black/ Maybe her goal is to do away with affirmative action? I mean, letting anyone identify as whatever race they want would probably be the end of affirmative action.
http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_28330052?cid=dlvr.it Plot twist, she now says her birth certificate is not proof her white parents are really her parents.
