I hate the team travel schedule

The team will be leaving late Friday, so they don't miss any classes. They will be missing the walk-through and it's going to be a very rushed trip, which doesn't seem like a good plan to me. They are currently watching videos to get a feel for Notre Dame Stadium. That's not as concerning as just being rushed and tired.

Agree. Do we know how late is "leaving late"? Since the kick is at 7:30 EDT, seems like they could still schedule a walk-through sometime Saturday morning.

Charlie just mentioned after classes. By the time classes are over, you eat, get the buses loaded, account for everyone, get to the airport, etc. -- it would probably be 9pm at the earliest -- at least that's my guess.

    From Strong's last presser:

CHARLIE STRONG (in answering a question, he added this): Like you said, you're looking at a program so rich in tradition, there's so much pride and passion in the program. But we won't have a chance to get on campus because when we arrive, it's going to - I think they have all their festivities with the pep rally so I didn't want to take our players through that. When we get there on game day on Saturday that'll be the first time they have a chance to see the stadium and everything.

    Q. How much thought went into not doing a Friday walk through, and are you concerned that they might be blown away when they walk out and see the whole field?

CHARLIE STRONG: No. What happens on a Friday walk through, we would have had to leave here at like 9:00 in the morning, and there's a specific window that they give you where we would have had to be there at either like 1:00, so then we would have come in there, they'd run us off, then they come in and they take the field at a certain time, so that's why we weren't able to go do the Friday walk through, because now you're talking about now they're not going to class at all here. But that's why I've been trying to just show them just what's going on. Another thing is on Fridays there, the campus is just so full of people because you would love to put them on campus and let them walk around, but there's people everywhere because they have their Friday night pep rally, they have the mass before the pep rally, so much going on on that campus, and I didn't want them to be placed in that environment. Then you hear a lot of chatter going back and forth because I don't want our guys chattering with their fans and hearing all that. So it's the best thing sometimes to just walk into a ballpark. I just told them, you know what, guys, the field is the same length, it's the same width. The people are different, now it's all about us going in to go play.

I don't know that it's necessarily a bad thing. You show up. Play your game. Leave. No extracurricular time spent oohing and aahing over stuff that doesn't help you win the game.

Could they be tired because they fly in to South Bend sort of late at night? Possibly. But we're also talking about 18-23 year olds that probably stay up late at night anyway. And just let them sleep in on game day.

I like what CS told the team.

This is a business trip we have been preparing for and are ready for. Focus on the game and your assignments. The field is the same as ours - our stadium is bigger. Their crowd will be loud but we have played on the road in loud stadiums before, etc.

I DO WISH STEVIE P. HAD NOT KEPT THE LHB FROM GOING TO THE GAME:angry:

The Coaches need to keep the younger guys focused since it will be the first game they play, it's on the road, hostile environment....get some sleep, team meetings, bus to stadium, suit up, take care of business, shower and go home, put a W in the win column.

Exactly. Seniors and leaders can also help keep the younger guys focused on the task at hand.

I actually like this arrangement. Focus on what you are there to do. Get in. Do your job. Get out.
