Well deserved! He did bring us back and gave us many wonderful memories along the way. Through unbelievable good fortune I was in attendance at both national championship games. I don't think anything will ever top "Vince and the win" in 2006. And I will go to my grave believing that we kick Alabama's butt if Colt hadn't gotten hurt!
I still get jacked up watching younger Mack on LHN coaching with fire in wins over the likes of Nebraska, Aggy, Ohio State, and USC. Many older coaches flame out with age, doesn't dilute the great things they accomplished when burning hot. With the state of affairs today, I'd like to say we took those nine straight 10+ win seasons for granted. Truth is most of us cherished it all as it unfolded. Mack Brown Texas Football
Mack was not able to recruit with the same success as he aged well beyond 60. That takes nothing away from how much he did for Texas for 16 seasons. He sure did bring us back! Two National Championship appearances and one win. He and Coach Royal are the best coaches in Texas History. I do think Mack Brown had more competition in his era than Coach Royal had in his era. But that is hard to compare.
Ever gracious, always humble Mack Brown. I have nothing but respect for who he is and what he did for Texas and my much loved Longhorns. Hookem
