My god, all of the excuses. Face it: Texas didn't want it as bad as the other team and it showed. And not only that, Northern Iowa beat Texas in such a fashion that Texas will be on the wrong end of March madness jokes for the rest of our lifetime...

If Texas truly came to play, I would've expected Shaka to out-coach a small team like Northern Iowa (who's only a basketball school literally because of winning two games as a 9 seed). But he couldn't even handle that, hence the ***-whooping in the first half that cost Texas.

And as far as "Shaka got this far without his own guys," or lousy wait till he gets his own guys." I recall Longhorn fans doing that for another sport, which is currently 11-14 in the last two years.

Face it, Texas is not Texas like it used to be, and won't be for at least another 10 years if Texas keeps getting killed in games to teams like Northern Iowa and Iowa State

Northern Iowa is nothing like the Iowa State football team, ask North Carolina or Kansas too.

If you don't know that, then you shouldn't really post.

Getting killed is being beaten by a half court prayer.

Well.....damn. I was hoping we'd win at least 1 in the tournament, but got the old Rick Barnes one and done special. Time to check on the ladies.

By the way, barring an absolute miracle of the baseball team making regionals (a team which can't even close on a 7-0 lead or catch a foul pop up), Texas will go two straight years without winning a single postseason game in a major men's sport.

But it's ok, because people like @NBHorn7 says our teams are making progress and that we can't compare Iowa state football (a team that thrashed Texas 24-0) to anything.

    Hooked horns!!!!!!

The baseball team won the Big 12 Tournament last season. That's a post season event.

You keep looking worse with every post, keep it up.

It is totally rediculous to compare the Northern Iowa basketball team, to the the Iowa State football team.

And by all means take me on about the baseball team. Nobody has been more straightforward about the flaws it has.

I have been talking about the hitting downfall since 2010, when everybody called me crazy, for saying so.

Wow, what an overreaction. Harry , you really need to take a break (and a few deep breathes) before you put your hands to the keyboard when something bad happens. Yes this result was a disappointment. But, don't discount how well NIU played tonight and how well they played to get into the Tourney (12-1 to close their league play). Also, let's not forget that Shaka (as a first year coach) was able to coach a team that lost it's key big man (Cam) for the entire B12 season to a 20 win season. Almost everyone here thought that we'd fold up the tent and head home to end up at the bottom of the B12 after we lost Cam. Instead, we won 20 games and placed 4th in the B12. Ibeh became the best defender in the league and will likely be drafted in the second round.

I'm proud of these kids for the way they fought after we lost Cam and how hard they played tonight. Yes they could have played better, but it wasn't for lack of effort. And, they were beat by a lucky shot from 3 feet behind the mid court line.

I'm looking forward to Shakaball next season and hoping that our recruiting closes out strong. :bevo:

Disappointed in this game, but not in this season.
Hell, even this game wasn't that bad. We played like crap for 10 minutes in the first half, then played equally well in the second half to come back. Then we got beat by a miracle half-court shot. Going into this game, we shoulda won, and we didn't.
But it's been a good year, considering the circumstances.

Yeah, some real murderer's row northern Iowa faced to go 12-1...

Lol. You convinced me. What an embarrassment being beat by a shot from behind midcourt. That shot completely negates the coaching job that Shaka did after Cam went down to get us to 20 wins. Yeah, Texas "deserves better than this crap."

Dude, you really need to gain perspective.

It wasn't many of us in the stadium so it was pretty easy to hear everybodys heart sink when that shot went it. That was by far worse than nick rose missing that xpt in the cal game

That shot was a gut wrencher for sure. I'm sure that the kids felt it worse than the fans.

And it's like that, and that's the way it is. Wasn't our time, wasn't our year.

Ibeh played up to an early 2nd round draft pick tonight. Isaiah Taylor has digressed and needs to come back for his senior year. Thank you Seniors. Now lets go sign Jarrett Allen.

This team unfortunately, could never find its identity and was fragmented on a lot of levels. We peaked too early in the season. 1st year coach, lost our star player, 20 wins, 4th in a strong conference and a NCAA tournament appearance/loss on gatbage...I'm ok with what this era of guys acheived. See y'all in November. :bevo:

Well that shot was a real kick in the gut, but it does not change the fact that this team overachieved and any one who doesnt want to see that is either not paying attention or just disagreeable for the sake of being disagreeable. This team was dead and done in January but found itself and in a league where every game was a fight won 11 games. A 20 win season with the schedule Texas played is no slouch and the future is very bright with Shaka so while last night hurt, you will have to excuse me harry_horns for also feeling very optimistic about the future of Texas basketball.

Well, the Wizard of Aus melted into the Wizard of AwShit for one game.

(yeah, I'm mixing up the Wiz with the Witch, but give me some slack here).

    On to next year.

This, and it showed in this game and it had been showing down the stretch against top teams as well.

When you have no credible option inside on offense, and you play a good team that shoots and moves the ball around, this is what you get. We settled for jump shots way too often for too long a stretch, and we don't have any pure jump-shooting guards - and no, I don't count a guy who's a coinflip between 4-7 and 0-6 as being a shooter. (Sorry Felix, you work your butt off but you're not the answer there.) Until that happens, good teams will ignore the middle, keep the guards on the perimeter, collapse on one when he's good enough to do it and dare us to do anything about it.

BTW, did anyone watch Wichita State yesterday? You know, the team that dismantled Arizona yesterday and just went to the Final Four? Oh yeah, Northern Iowa beat them , too.

Yep. As I predicted earlier in the season, harry would be back to vomit his frustrations all over this board as soon as he got his poor little feelings hurt again.

harry showed how shortsighted he is when his emotions are compromised by predicting we would only place ahead of TCU in conference and win only two more games all year. This after losing early to Tceh. After all the crap he took for being so utterly wrong, I had hoped he might have learned a little something. But once again he graces us with his whiny drivel simply because he can't process his emotions any better than a 9 year old girl.

Wow, sounds like my statements are hurting your poor little feelings. I didn't know that losing in the first round to schools like northern Iowa was the standard at Texas, but I guess I should just manage my expectations more.

And we've discussed my conference prediction, I thought you would've learned something as well. I made that prediction after Texas had lost to tcu, one of the worst teams in the nation, and I'm pretty sure other people shared my sentiment.

If my posts really bother y'all, don't read them. I mean it's really just that simple. Otherwise, keep spouting off how I'm so in your head @Sangre Naranjada, it's quite entertaining hahah

What you do is, you get the ball with two hands.
You then face the basket and shoot the ball throw the hoop. Thats considered a bucket.
They got more of those than we did. Thats how they beat us.

Well, at least UT basketball will live in the NCAA highlight reels and those of the Northern Iowa athletic program for a long time. Maybe forever.
Perhaps this constant reminder during the rest if the tournament could motivate the team going forward. It certainly should.

The frustrating thing to me was we played intense D for the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half. I mean really intense D. And then once we got even with them, we let up. We play tough D for the 2nd 20 minutes and we win by 10 and that last shot is meaningless. That's on us. That's on the senior leadership. I mean once we get it tied and then Felix jacks up a 28 footer from the top. Lack of intensity and stupid plays cost us that game. Not a half court shot.

You are wrong...."everybody" ? I don't think so...I've been wanting a new hitting coach as long or longer than you. It looks like we need a coach for the defense now as well.
