are there any schools competitive in Div I that have not recruited bad apples? I dono of any. I don't guess Rice has but they are not big time competitive.

Ramonce Taylor? Great player so we took a chance.

The worst ever was Nebraska but they got their national championship with that POS.

I think the gloating is uncalled for. This is a tragedy, first for the girls and then for the Baylor fans.

If it leads to cleaning up the sewer that is big time athletics, this is a good thing. Judging from the way Kobe Bryant's departure has gone, I doubt it will make much difference overall

Who benefits most, us or TCU?

Haven't noticed anyone here gloating. It is a tragedy for the girls and their families, but I feel nothing for their "fans."

Its not ironic unless you actually believe that the political spectrum is a morality map. It aint.
I am not surprised at all in our choice of football coaches, or theirs for that matter.

Celebrating a piece of trash paying the piper for his sins and making it harder to harm others in the future has nothing to do with condoning his past crimes or minimizing his victims. Quite the opposite. Gloat away, this sob had it coming.

I was troubled at the time, and now SGs description of AB as a "high character person" or somesuch looks even worse.

    Huisache,

We have skated for the most part. Ramonce was nowhere near this severity and hurt no one but himself.

Lest you forget, Robert Joseph. I chased that piece of **** coach that covered everything up from Port Arthur to Humble to hopefully out of coaching

Many Baylor fans were defending all this to the bitter end, I find that troubling and pretty tragic.

I can't even imagine many here doing the same, if this was Texas doing, what Baylor coaches and aministrators did.

I know I wouldn't, but I can't imagine anything ever happening this bad, at Texas.

This was strictly a case of not wanting to lose the goose, that laid the golden (and green) eggs, that built a new football stadium and provided money for other things.

Baylor couldn't act like they had been there before, because they never have been, at this level. The private church school sold it's soul to the devil, in Briles, for what he brought them.

It reminds me of SMU back in the 1980's, just it went down, in a different way, no institutional control.

Yes he did. And it punched him in the face this morning.

Is the bill for that stadium paid in full? What a monument to selling their souls for a winning program...which will soon be lost too.

    NB,

I would submit my belief that both Baylor and SMU had institutional control I firmly believe that the administrations of both were knowledgeable and chose to look the other way. Baylor's actions today are purely damage control or Starr would be gone.

It's called McLane Stadium, this should give you a good idea, that other funds helped too.

    NB,

If you don't know him, consider the following. I would trust Barry Switzer with one hundred cents of my last dollar. I wouldn't trust Drayton McLane with ten cents of my last ten million.

Many Baylor fans think that Texas had a big hand in the demise of Briles. They are also saying Texas fans can look forward to possible violence, at Baylor vs. Texas games.

There is all kinds of ilk being spilled in Waco over this, I could give you many examples, here is just one. Click on it to make it bigger.

It's not the "chance" a coach takes on recruiting "bad apples," as you mentioned. The REAL ISSUE is having an athletic department, coach(s), administrators, campus police, and players covering up sexual assaults of women on the campus. As you said, it's a tragedy for those assaulted. Yet Baylor's covering up of many many instances begs for answers from the public, the students, the alumni, their church, and the NCAA.

    Yep ^^^.
You could also argue that Briles should have, and probably did, know better than to bring in some of the bad apples he did. ukuachu, oakman, even Stoops probably might have held his nose.

If Baylor fans and students are saying that, it proves how deeply embedded the culture of women as 2nd class citizenry is. Such misguided stances, also, shows that such culture is alive and well in Waco.
The students and fans should, right now, be picketing their university's administrative offices, as well as Art Briles home----demanding answers and demanding accountability...DEMANDING CHANGE!!!
