Feel free not to read my posts if they're apparently disturbing you so much.

When you see my name, skip below while believing in your mind I'm a moron who needs anger management classes if that's what it takes. :smile1:

I completely understand and respect others have a right to express opinions, just as I have a right to express mine and/or disagree, even strongly.

The back and forth doesn't upset me a bit and is taken with a grain of salt as normal board debate. I honestly don't even make a mental note of who's saying what as holding a grudge against a person (esp. a fellow Horn) for their football opinions is worthless.

The calling me out by name twice now and directly expressing your own interpretation of my having an angry state of mind is starting to lean towards personal.

Disagree with my opinions all you want, but taking a substantial time out of your day to prepare a lengthy post going after me even off topic is making it personal. I doubt that avenue will be productive for either of us.

I write how I write in a calm state, don't go after anyone personally, and that won't change when passionate about a topic at hand.

I've put my lengthy time in playing the sport and spent countless dollars in 22 years as a season ticket holder to earn the right to have Texas Football opinions.

Apparently we strongly disagree, cool. :hookem:

P.S.: Swoopes is still the wrong choice to start vs. ND :smile1:

Maybe I did make it too personal, and so I apologize.
You have every right to have your opinions, and if you read carefully, I am not sure that I even disagree with your opinions on 99% of what you have said, especially about the QB situation. I hope Buechele starts.

In this world of sarcasm and hidden meanings, I suppose I should be more careful how things can be taken, but most of the time, my statements and questions aren't sarcastic or rhetorical. I was really asking whether you are angry about this, and you say you aren't, so okay. I was also asking whether, for you, the sort of all-in-on-one-side, melodrama-like tone was part of the fun for you, and I guess I've come to think that that is part of the fun for you, so now I know better how to read you.

I guess I could block your posts, if that is what you are suggesting. Again, though, what I meant to be raising was not how upset I was with the topic, but how upset you seemed to be.

Moreover, while I read and engaged every word of every post you made, even taking you up on reading the threads from last year, you really did not engage any of my posts or ideas or of others who did not echo your views. My purpose was not to block your opinion, but to engage it.

There is a small enough number of posters here that we aren't just anonymous hit-and-run posters like some sites, but more like long-term family discussions that go on for years, where you have your opinions from all sides, but then you still have Thanksgiving dinner.

Again, didn't mean to insult you; I think I understand you better. You seem to know a lot about football, so I'll continue to read what you have to say.

No hard feelings at all. I do appreciate the kind response and clarity that's come from this last exchange.

Can't say there aren't times I've made knee-jerk posts and when reflecting later began to dread returning to see replies. :smile1:

With game week approaching I'll be dialing back the criticism and do my part to join the unified front against the Irish. :hookem:

No promises for Sept. 5th though. Amazing what a win would do for our HF life.

Everybody gets edgy close to game day. I just threw up a little in my mouth and I really want to hit someone. My 7th grade son's coach won't let me on the field anymore.

I have intentionally removed the poster names from these, because my intent isn't to call out individual posters here, just to highlight the ridiculous know-it-all attitude of our fanbase sometimes. To be fair, we do tend to have a fairly football-knowledgeable group. That said, I feel like Miracle Max after reading a bunch of these 100% infallibly certain authoritative predictions .... "Look who knows so much!"

Yeah clearly the 18-wheeler had no chance against that quality Notre Dame defense!

Yep, all we need to know about Swoopes is that he's still afraid of contact. :tap:

I have decided that I think we should start Buechele, but also play Swoopes. :smile1:

Hindsight is 20/20. Who knows what would have happened if only one QB played but it's hard to imagine being better than what I saw today.

Stat and Brad, I don't follow HF enough to know all the detailed history. You both seem to know more about LH football details from a former football player, or at least an insightful fan, than I do. I'm a passionate fan, and have been to almost all home games since the 80's, but my football career ended in 8th grade with a bad dislocated shoulder injury. I know the game pretty well, but I just don't have the same insightful perspective that many do that played the game well beyond when I did, or even just watched it as fanatic fans, that many like you do.

But, I do know a thing or two about running organizations and businesses, and healthy debate about the issues at hand tends to be a good thing. Hard, rational debate is healthy. It tends to bring the truth to the top, until it gets personal. Once personal insults start to trickle in and dominate, things tend to fall apart.

Try to keep the personal attacks off the boards. Stick to the actual football facts and analysis. And, keep posting! People like me appreciate the perspective you guys have. Hook 'em!
