That's funny! And they end up with Houston and Cincy being added which are the two originally mentioned when this started.
Funny. The last line is the most accurate: Now, after all that, watch the conference decide it’s not expanding after all.
Houston planning upgrade to facilities CSU adding a party deck http://www.coloradoan.com/story/spo...ium-partners-csu-stadium-party-deck/88398528/ My vote goes to CSU
Bob "Egg on his Face" Bowlsby. "As the former AD at Northern Iowa U., I thought all these candidates were powerhouses too."
As someone said earlier, this was obvious from the start. Just an effort to appease the Borens of the world.
Being reported that expansion candidate list is down to "6 to 8" colleges. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/report-big-12-narrows-expansion-list-to-6-to-8-schools-141118723.html said to be UH, UConn, BYU, Memphis, Cincy, UCF, USF..... not much of a competitive upgrade but it is all about the TVs.
That same article states that the two schools invited might be for football only. I like this better than full inclusion. Of course, I don't like any school mentioned except for BYU.
While I see no chance of the game even being competitive, a UH win over Oklahoma would help their case. But in addition to not wanting the Coogs in the league, I really don't want OU playing a game in Harris County every other year. Their Texas recruiting has fallen off dramatically and I would like to keep it that way.
Their Texas recruiting hasn't fallen off because of exposure in the state. It's fallen off because of the climbs of TCU and BU.
Would make for a fun baseball season with Rice... Too bad college baseball makes no money comparitively
USF Bulls is a sentimental favorite for me for expansion but it cannot be allowed in the Big XII unless they change their hand symbol.....
FWIW, Any one hear the ESPN Dallas conversation today with Trammel about expansion? i missed who he said he thinks the big XII should merge with.....I was curious, I've always thought the big xii could merge with the ACC and make one strong conference but I didn't hear what he said. However, right after that he said he really thinks the BigXII is going to dissolve eventually.
Listening to the 3 sports radio stations in DFW most believe the B12 will collapse fairly soon, so expansion won't matter. They brought up that B12 schools looked bad with the numerous OOC losses so far.
I read somewhere Boren wanted BYU, but had to waive because of their honor code and stance on homosexuals.
The Big XII is on life support, and unless they can persuade two major Power 5 schools to defect, all the Big XII is doing is just biding time until the Grant of Rights expires. Unless an adult comes into the room and negotiates with Fox and ESPN for the termination of the Grant of Rights before its termination, merging with the ACC is the best the Big XII can do. Outside of Alabama, tOSU and Louisville everyone and every conference has looked bad. However the way the playoff is currently set up 4 major conferences is all that it can really handle.
