At this point, I think we should win them all based on the remaining schedule. Notre Dame looks like the toughest on the schedule and we won. Drink your Milk, eat your peppers and stay healthy. 12-0 and a glass of koolaid with a shot of vodka.

Guys, injuries could derail this train BUT didn't last week. Crazy. Just watched CS presser. CHILLS. This is a different team from last year. Every team can get derailed by injuries (including Ala., Oh State, etc) but if Texas does not get crushed Texas is a force. Now. We would beat Mich and Clemson now.

Just as we have upset them, they can just as easily upset us. Bob Stoops also knows how to beat Texas. No way to call that game at all. However, I am hopefull that Special Snowflake Mayfield will melt once again and we'll pull through with another Longhorn victory in the Cotton Bowl!

    ^^^^ This.

We've only seen two games, but I'm very optimistic about this team. I too will wait to drink the Kool-aid until after the ou game.

Need to develop a consistent pass rush. And secondary, for all their talent, has room to improve.

We had 5 sacks against UTEP, a running team and 3 against Notre Dame, a majority of whose OL will be NFL draft picks, at least one a first rounder. Hager is new to DE and Roach is new to NCAA football. Ford and Nelson are much better than I expected. With Ridgeway departed for the NFL, I thought the interior DL would be downgraded from last year. I was wrong and we have a lot of unrealized potential upside. Barring injury, the freshmen will get better every week. They have the tools but need time on the field and in the film room.

I think we will lose 2-3 games along the way this year. But we will have a statement win in a major bowl game, go into next season ranked in the top 4, and never lose again until Boo leaves.

I still think we are a year away, but this team is on the rise.
I can't believe how well Buechele is doing, but there is only one of him, don't forget.
And dangerously thin in the o-line, and a few other places, although we can see help is on the horizon.
We could go a long way this year with the right combination of lack of injuries, karma and luck.
But as for the succeeding two years, buckle up...it appears a very fun ride is on the horizon. Just not sure it will start this year.

I may have to join the First Annual HF Crow Cook-off after the preceding post, and I hope that is the case.

I want to be all-in on this team this year, but it's two games in and there are a lot of unanswered questions still. We can all breathe easy knowing we ran our second- and third-team offensive line out against UTEP and managed to win, but I don't think any of us were thrilled with the performance. And I'm still remembering that against Notre Dame, there were still real issues with our FIRST team unit getting a push - they consistently pushed us back in the middle, and that's probably something we're going to have to deal with for most of this year because Shack isn't getting any stronger or bigger until the next off-season.

Even if our front starters excel, does anyone think that our recent track record with the O-line indicates five (or even three!) healthy starters for the rest of the year? Those guys are probably going to have to play a lot this year, which means either the freshmen need to progress and step in, or those second-line guys need to get to work.

We still haven't shown we can slow down a really good passing offense or put a consistent pressure on from our front four. And I'm underwhelmed with every RB I've seen not named Donta Foreman.

Whew! OK blanket is doused. Did that help? :smile1:

(BTW don't be misled - I couldn't be more pleased with how this year is going. The weaknesses are exactly what I thought they'd be but they're just the reality of our personnel right now, and I'm confident they're being addressed.)

A night game on the road vs. a team with an excellent passer who will likely throw 60+ passes to good, fast receivers, will not be easy. Not to mention fast RB's that, if slipping through, are gone, as we saw last year. Rosy expectations should wait just a few more days as this could be a wild one.

This team might run the table. Then they get their a** kicked in the playoffs. But next year and for years to come, the Longhorns will dominate. I was anti Charlie after Iowa State, but I was wrong. The Longhorns are going to dominate over the next 10 years.

OK, I will help manage ONE of your season expectations in advance.

People of the corn... 0-2 Iowa Stain is a TERRIBLE team. They will roll into Austin as a BIG dog in Oct.

CS will have the 2015 ISU game playing in the locker room on continuous video loop all week prior to the game. In practice all week the coaches will speak of losing their manhood, remind the players of the humiliating & un-Horn like 0-24 score last year to this B12 bottom dweller program.

Despite what happens between now and then, I predict this team will come out angry and dominate the lowly 'clones from the gun.

I think you should EXPECT a 50+ plus point country-*** beatdown of ISU.

Unfortunately basically the same defensive staff that let ISU score 24.

Yeah but lets be fair. A defense that spends the entire game on the field is going to allow some scores.
Maybe, just maybe, our offense will help our defense this time.

Not to get our expectations too out of whack but ESPN included Texas v. Cal in its analysis of "Playoff Contenders" on the road this week.

    http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...playoff-contenders-face-key-road-tests-week-3

I certainly don't have my hopes as high as making the playoff but it is so very very nice for Texas to be discussed again on a national stage for things that actually matter (ie significant bowl games and conf. titles). It has been a while

I would like to see OU beat Ohio State. Urban Meyer needs to be taken down a peg or two.

There is a huge difference, statistically, between "we can win each one of the games we play," and "we can we every game we play."

    (Hope my math is right:)
Even if you had 10-1 odds of winning every single game, more or less a 90% chance of winning each game, then .9 to the power of 12 would be .28, or 28% chance of actually accomplishing that 12 times in a row--even if you were so highly favored as to have 10-1 odds.

If you averaged being a 2-1 favorite, having a .66 chance to win each game, then .66 to the power of 12 would show a .0068 chance, or less than 1% chance for a 2-1 favorite to win 12 times in a row.

    Just helping you manage expectations....
