at the link you posted is a tremendous article on Admiral McRaven and his memo to all at UT requesting everyone to stand at attention and honor our flag.
Wow of all people who better to explain what the anthem and our flag mean?

Meanwhile at Brown University, in the alternate universe known as the Ivy League, they are going to put tampons in the men's restrooms because.....

"Viet Nguyen, President of the Undergraduate Council of Students, announced the initiative in a campus-wide email Tuesday, saying he wants to communicate the message that not all people who menstruate are women, according to Newsweek."

    http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8105

Color me confused. Think about that statement, not all people who menstruate are women. I would say by definition, all people who menstruate ARE women. They maybe playing dress up, but they're definitely women.

Nguyen might be thinking of Hillary or Harry Reid, or he is familiar with Obama's policy toward Isis and has come to the realization that he's a ---y, or he became confused watching the Oklahoma defense vs U of H.

If you follow and accept the goofy illogic that you are what you think you are rather than what your anatomy says you are, then what Nguyen says actually makes sense.

Who am I to deny the new reality? Thus, I've decided to think that I'm 29 y.o., 6-foot-6, and have six-pack abs and bulging biceps. Anyone who denies my new persona is a racist, homophobe, mf-er.

NCAA just dropped the bomb on North Carolina because of HB2, which says boy parts go to boy's bathroom, girl parts go to girls' bathroom. They pulled 7 championship events out. They did this "based on the NCAA's commitment to fairness and inclusion".

Since they're so committed to fairness and inclusion, they should just do away with their men's and women's championship divisions. Just have one division that includes everybody. You know "fairness and inclusion". Just have one champion to rule them all.

San Antonio is scared sh!t!ess that the Texas legislature will pass a similar bill this session and our tourist dollars will go else where.

The problem is that state legislatures are not getting their university leadership in order. People argue "I do not want legislatures interfering with universities." Public universities are part of state governments subject to the will of legislatures. The NCAA is ultimately run by the universities. The universities are trying to interfere with their boss, legislatures, by determining laws and culture of a state through economic pressure from the NCAA as their vehicle. It is time for some states' to grow a pair and start firing their university presidents engaging in this behavior. I wish Texas would start with Fenves. There is too much fear and if our legislature does not step up, it allows a few ivy tower university presidents to pervert and sabotage the democratic will of the people.

They sure don't mind their interference when it comes to money.

Hopefully, the Texas Legislature won't pepper the bill with corporate welfare like the North Carolina bill did.

It would be amusing if Louisiana, Florida and Texas passed the same or a similar bill.
That would eliminate many of their most favored game sites.
What would they do then? Have everything in California, where attendance would be slack?

scarier is that shows to have been published almost a decade ago...unfortunately, we scoffed and rolled our eyes and now find that kids actually believe that crap, which is what has given us a generation expecting participation trophies even when they suck.

Seattle, SJW political correctness stifling discussions is sweeping across college campuses. Even Obama has called it a porblem.

Your post is akin to marginalizing Jose Altuve's hitting because you saw him strike out a few times while channel surfing.

I used to wear a tie with no jacket when I was a newspaper reporter in the 1980s. I had a feeling that the tie made a positive impression on pre baby-boom folks I had to interview.
However, I contend it made me a victim of microagressions.
Every time I stopped at a general merchandise, superstore or grocer on the way home, people would assume I was a "manager" and ask me questions or complain about the store.

Is there someplace where age 50 something white guys can gather to vent about microagressions that torment us? It has to be someplace safe, cause if my dad and his coherts were to hear me vent they'd talk about the Depression, Korea, Vietnam and berate me for being a whiny little *****, which I consider a macroagression I'd prefer to avoid.

Individual people (and our entire society) would be a hell of a lot better off if they learned to handle "microaggression" (wtf is that anyway), uncomfortable speech from another, and even straight up insults with a little grace and dignity. You cannot learn to do that unless you are exposed to it repeatedly.
