The problem is that state legislatures are not getting their university leadership in order. People argue "I do not want legislatures interfering with universities." Public universities are part of state governments subject to the will of legislatures. The NCAA is ultimately run by the universities. The universities are trying to interfere with their boss, legislatures, by determining laws and culture of a state through economic pressure from the NCAA as their vehicle. It is time for some states' to grow a pair and start firing their university presidents engaging in this behavior. I wish Texas would start with Fenves. There is too much fear and if our legislature does not step up, it allows a few ivy tower university presidents to pervert and sabotage the democratic will of the people.
