There is sarcasm and humor and then there is unacceptable bad taste. If some piece of **** coach like Mackovic or Meyer or Beamer or Erickson had done what Gundy did, I would have called and thanked them. Making fun of that situation and its results are totally off limits in my world.

We are Texas, and as such are above such cheap ******** or at least we once were.

Okay, whatever you say. On a message board like this, since most of us don't know all the people on a first name basis that you seem to, it is just in humor. I don't dislike Gundy, he seems like a good guy. But you judge who is good or not and then fling insults at them on here, people who may deserve it. But, to act like it is so over the top and out of line to make a joke about that rant is a bit shortsighted, in my opinion.

I do enjoy most of your posts, especially the back story on a lot of things. :beertoast:

Didn't that ex-player say the same thing about the DB's: can't cover holes down the sideline.

The Krispy Kreme secondary, soft and sweet on the outside, a big hole in the middle, and they go down easy.

Sabrehorn, He is a good coach. I will give him that.
Your characterization of what he did for* that player is strange. He never refuted anything in the story, (because it was all true) and his grandstanding only turned a local Stoolwater story into national news. No one outside if Stoolwater knew or cared about it until his tirade. Any chance that kid had of getting a second chance at football anywhere else was over.
(The reporter was probably schmuck, true, but what do you expect from a Greensheet Buyer writer)
Shoot, I would not be surprised if her source was Gundy himself or that Gundy orchestrated the story. The kid was a problem for him.

I know that the kid went to work for Gundy as some kind of counselor in recent years, but lets face it, Gundy kinda owed him.

    SabreHorn.
You come on here and call people I've never heard of some of the vilest names I've ever heard and accuse them of all kinds of crap.
For all I know, they are good people and you are just an ***-hole.
Gundy stood up for his player.
But it was kind of comical.
    Lighten up.

Umm, that was me accusing Gundy of vile crap. :confused2:
And remind me never to ask Gundy to stand up for me.

I think moondog is referring to the accusations and things said about the likes of the Big XII officials and refs, etc.

Oh I agree on that point. Probably why he confused me with Sabre there. Seems like something Sabre would say.
I am honestly kind of surprised Sabre found someone to say something good about... in Gundy...

Edit - I just figured out what post of Sabre's that MoonDog was referring to.
That kind offended reaction does seem strange from someone with a history of posts such as Sabre's.

Interesting stat: the last seven Texas-OSU games have been won by the visiting team.

I hope the Horns arrive in Stoolwater with a bad taste in their mouths and some sense of revenge after that cluster loss @ DKR last year :brickwall:

We are going to win Saturday and probably by more that 14.
After the loss, T Boone Pickens will probably take off one of his bright orange boots and throw it at Gundy.

I like Vance and want him to succeed as DC but I sense he is and has been struggling with our D. In this press conference, the media naturally had a lot of tough questions for him and he had some good answers for many of them but IMO there were many coach speak and non-answer responses.

I'm not getting warm and fuzzies with him...

Team Note: As you all know, Texas is trying to find the right combination of personnel on the back end to strengthen the defense. This week it sounds like they are working to find the combination that works.

Have been told that Hill and Evans have been taking the first team snaps at cornerback. Davis is rotating in with Evans.

But interestingly, was also told that Evans has taken some snaps at safety.

Also of note, was told that Elliot and Vacarro are getting quite a few first team reps at the safety spots. This obviously could just be due to the fact that the coaches already know what they have in Hall and Haines but it does highlight that there is an earnest effort to find the right first group.

As one source put it, “they are just trying to find combinations that work well and consistently in the secondary…guys who communicate and play best together”.

Also, not surprisingly, Brandon Jones continues to get reps.

Bedford's presser instilled NO confidence in me for the game with osu. I will be very pleasantly surprised if his D holds osu under 40.

This is the Big XII - one has to plan on scoring 50 to win.

Just like before the Cal game... I fear a shootout with the Pokes. What team has the ball last and scores. VH is right, Gilbert better plan on the O scoring 50 if the Horns want to win.

Bedford has never inspired confidence in me. He is all bluster. He reminds me of some people I work with who are completely incompetent, but they work really hard at convincing everyone that they are on top of everything.

His first year inspired confidence in me with the tough talk of instilling fear in receivers because of the massive hits Texas defenders would put on them, etc. The results have gotten me to the point where I don't even listen to his remarks anymore.

    Texas in Stillwater lately:
    1999 W 34-21
    2001 W 45-17
    2003 W 55-16
    2005 W 47-28
    2007 W 38-35
    2009 W 41-14
    2012 W 41-36
    2014 W 28-7

Not only 8 straight wins, but most of them haven't been all that close.

I hope we keep the trend going this Saturday. But it is on the road and the Horns haven't done well on the road lately.

If the horns do have revenge in their hearts then they will have to find those awful, awful, dishonest, cheating officials who cost them the game. Then I hope the horns do some very unspeakable things to those men. They actually did rob us of a game last year.

CORRECTION: This was a typo, it should say “Davis” has taken some snaps at safety.

I’m not going to go into details about last year’s Oklahoma State game, like the ghost fumble recovery, defensive holding, Coach Strong penalty, and the botched punt snap. What I will say is, this match-up will make two games in a row where bitterness may exist among staff, players, and fans alike. Especially now, after the Cal revenge game didn’t go the Longhorns’ way, this game presents another opportunity for the team to unleash an unholy hell on the Pokes and relieve themselves of many frustrations. It also commences the season’s ‘Oklahoma Campaign’ and the team’s first operation, we’ll call it ‘Operation Killwater’.

Disclaimer, I am not, in any weight shape or form, condoning violence, only a painful and miserable home defeat for the Cowboys, who will try to herd and corral the Longhorns stampede. This should make for a good contest.

I see this as a somewhat even contest with one kicker. If the Texas defense takes a step in the right direction, I think the Longhorns leave Stillwater with a win.

I just thought I’d mention it, but the refs better not suck, AGAIN!

Overall… I think this is a good match-up. If Texas closes the defensive gap (entirely possible), I think they control the action and win. As with any game, it’s about the players and execution. I’m willing to bet Charlie, Vance, and the players make things right on defense. I’m not looking for anything special, just a disciplined, energetic, and physical unit.

On the offensive side of the ball, it’s business as usual, but I do hope to see a couple interesting additions to the call sheet. This game can’t come soon enough for a group of players seeking redemption.
