Head coaches will be: Texas - Hermann Houston - Briles LSU - Petrino Southern Cal - Sumlin Aggies - Miles Louisville - Strong
The only two I think will happen are LSU gets Hermann and Houston goes after Briles. Texas will still have Strong and Louisville will have Petri no. Also, Aggies keep Summing. USC is the only other one looking for a coach.
I like Charlie and want to see him succeed, but something really good needs to shape up for us this year. If Charlie can’t get it done I would love to see Hermann set up shop in Austin.
Same here. Hermann is still plan B as far as I am concerned. (Although its a really attractive Plan B ...)
Petrino will not be at Louisville next year. Too many big time programs looking for a WINNER. Herman will not be at UH either. He is on a roll, and his STUD is a Senior. Time for him to cut bait while he is a hot commodity. Briles could end up at UH or Louisville. Miles to OSU is a possibility if OSU becomes available. Sumlin will be at A&M, as they are finally looking solid in all phases this year. With Texas faltering, A&M is in catbird seat.
Did Briles burn any bridges when he left Cougar High? If so, Louisville would be the logical spot for him. However, keep an eye on Briles to SC - they are desperate and you know about desperate people (even those self anointed kings of college football).
USC will not hire briles. They may make a run at Herman or Sumlin. But I guarantee that Briles will not be going to USC. I would love nothing better than to see our defense pull its weight. However, If it continues to get outcoached and beaten down, I suspect CS might be gone, unless he fires VB and hires someone who has some skins on the wall as a DC, and who has done very well against modern day spread option offenses.
Aggies are solid but they are still a long way from winning the SEC. Easier I think for Sumlin to win the Pac 12 at SC and that is a much higher profile job. If they offer, I think he takes. I thought about Applewhite staying at UH as head coach if Hermann doesn't bring him along. If Briles wants the UH job though, it's his. Briles would never go to SC. He knows the state of Texas and that's about it. MAYBE LSU.
Briles ego and want for a big job will lead him anywhere. Cougar High v. USC job? Even Briles can answer that one.
Could not agree more Dion! My kool aid needs a lil splash right now though if know what I mean. I ain't getting any younger ...
