6-6 does not and should not go to a bowl. I know about the "extra practices", but if they don't have their act together by the second weekend in October, take finals, make grades, go home for Christmas. 7-5 with blowouts by ND, OU, and/or TCU, stay home. Until Strong proves he deserves to coach at this level, I'm planning on watching and/or visiting some other bowl games, unless I get to attend a coaches' reception in December.
Sorry, I cheated. I just voted, and picked 11-0 from now on. What the heck! ... And no, I am not still drinking, at 6 in the morning here.
I'm revising my expectations. If we go 3-0 through Cal (and I think we will), this could get very interesting. Based on what I saw last night against a pretty darn good team, we should be able to compete well with any opponent on our schedule. At least 10 wins should be achievable.
Even with a huge first win, I still think that with a true freshman quarterback and that many young players that 8 wins is the most realistic but it would not surprise me at all to see 9-10 wins and it wouldn't shock me to see more than that. Very excited to see what happens.
Texas has enough talent to win every game, and enough youth to lose against everyone except Kansas and UTEP. I think we lose three and rank the most likely victors against us in this order: TCU, OU, Baylor, OSU, Tech, KState, Cal, ISU.
I said 10-2 last year and I still see it that way. Texas is under rated. If Buechele stays healthy the sky's the limit. We may lose to OU and TCU, but that's it. Health will be key, especially at QB. Boo goes down and were in trouble.
I'm gonna un-jinx all you kool aid folks just to maintain balance in the world....we are going 5-7 the way i see it wins against Cal and OU but lose to Iowa st again and Kansas......... There, that should help more than balance out the universe oh, and your welcome, you can thank me later.
5-7 may be about right...... You may be a pretty good prognosticator aUTfan. Just a little off on the games we lose or win.
Naw, I think my original prediction was along the lines of 8-4, I felt like that was realistic and I still believe that it is achievable with the wins and losses being games maybe we can't predict. I still think the defense is going to be nasty by the end of the year......if he can fix the secondary in time.
Mean and nasty at the end of November doesn't help us in October and early November. October 1 and October 8th will tell us a lot about these coaches and players.
True, hence we lose 3 more games, most of the defensive tackles are freshmen, gonna take them some time to get some experience, and as soon as we find 4 guys up front who are fighting rabid dogs all the way to the QB alot of the pressure on the secondary gets released........just my thoughts.
We got talent, but no development of that talent, at least for the D and ST. Changed my vote. We go 4-8 to finish the season.
What do you think old chap ? We gonna lose only TWO more games this season ? I say we might lose two more in October.
As of Monday, 10/17, and the press conference following the Iowa State game, and listening to Hager... I think they run the table the next 6 and finish 9-3. In doing so create major waves on defense that spills over to the rest of the team, shoring up special teams play, turnover ratio, fewer stupid penalties, and overall shut-down play and 'boot on your throat' putting games away and owning the second half and fourth quarter relentlessly. Or, the K-state game proves me and Hager wrong. I'm going by an inference from him and what it made the start thinking... so don't be surprised if this bunch shows up against the three home games... all top opponents... Baylor, WVA and TCU... and makes a name for itself, hopefully capturing the three road games with a good performance to boot. So, yeah, 9-3, and in position to recruit extremely well with the word on Charlie that finally it's here and it's as good or better than we thought. Go figure. Again... K-State shows it was all just a dream. Or...
UT has beaten 2 teams with one win and one team with 2 wins. Hard for me to get excited until a team with at least a 500 record is beaten. Not sure it will happen.
What ever happened to that fun little crow eating thread? I've really enjoyed going back and reading all the stuff that was said before the third week of September. And where is Texas Taps these days? My recollection is that he took a lot of grief for being rather prescient. If he was banned, he needs to be un-banned.
I'm sticking with my vote of 'let's talk about something else" -you know, like how kickass 2017 season is going to be...
