Had we seen any improvement on defense today the argument could have been made by some that progress was coming. The ineptitipude shown, particularly in the secondary, should eliminate any basis for those who would otherwise contend that Strong can fix the problem. Clearly he cannot. After 29 games and meltdown after meltdown any argument that might have remained relative to Charlie Strong's coaching prowess should no longer be believable, even by his most ardent supporters. This humiliating defeat and defensive meltdown should remove any lingering uncertainty for the decision-makers of our football program. They should be talking to agents now to lay the groundwork to identify and begin pursuing Strong's replacement. That probably could not have happened if not for the embarrassment today at Stillwater. The Cowboys may have done us a favor.
Two weeks to prepare for this game to boot. The defense looked bad and needs help now. We have the athletes but not the coaching.
It's not that we are losing it's how we are losing. And the clear evidence of poor coaching. Starting to look not good for ole chuck. Who wins the Herman Bowl? LSU, USC or Texas
"...it's how we are losing" Crux of it. Program has not developed a total special teams concept. Key to a winning program. When it's poor and lacking; full of mistakes, dumb penalties, failed attempts, coverage, every aspect on both sides, it feeds into and discolors the total team effort on both sides of the ball. It makes the game look ragged. Coach Royal swore by the kicking game. That and turnovers. This may have been the most important game of all. Two seasons. Three non-conference games. Two weeks off. Today.
Yeah, but they gave up 35 first half points. And our O only scored 6 in the second half. A really bad performance in all three phases of the game. If this performance is repeated in every game remaining, then we will beat ku and maybe isu. All other teams on our schedule will beat us. Unless we play much, much better.
