So, I'm going out on a limb and saying the Horns won't win the Big 12 this year. Guess I should pull for West Virginia, but I worried that it'll come down to OU or Baylor. I just irks me to thing that Baylor would win the Big 12 given the scandal. But, do I really want to see OU win another?
As painful as it may be for some to acknowledge, the Big XII is OU and Texas plus eight wannabes. For the health of the conference and to insure that the power remains where it belongs and the shots continue to be called by Texas and OU, we have neither the team, the coaching, nor the administration expertise to at this time to pull it off. Regardless of what we individually think of Boren and/or Stoops, they are our best "face" and hope for the preservation of the cash cow that is the Big XII until the GoR expire. It also makes us far more attractive if and when we bolt for a better opportunity. Sure there are lots of press releases and conferences, but most of those are simply posturing to keep the media idiots chasing rabbits.
I'll pull for Baylor over OU, because after this year Baylor is toast. My bigger grrrr is that A&M is playing Bama with all the hype of being undefeated. That they went out and got a real DC and look at the difference it's made. Just chaps my *** and it's going to kill us in recruiting if the aggs go 10-2 or 11-1.
Wadster, Be happy for the Aggies success because it means we are only bidding against LSU. Besides, I am confident that they will "Aggie it".
Well, my son is at A&M so there's that. Older 2 UT grads, but Texas no longer gives full tuition for national merit and 40K was just too much money to turn down. He doesn't even go to the games, but loves the engineering department. At least he hasn't turned into an aggie in 2 years so I have hope. Back to football, I learned a long time ago. Never, under any circumstances root for OU. Even in 08 when people said to root for OU over Tech. Just don't do it. OU winning is never good for us. Baylor can have their day in the sun. It's setting quickly.
If you're rooting for BU or WV over OU then you're indirectly rooting against the Horns. If we beat BU and WV, OU wins the conference.
I usually pull for OU for two reasons: 1) When they win, we look better and have a better power rating, a power rating destroyed by Kansas, Iowas State, and usually a couple of others. 2) It started with Switzer, but I love for OU to have only one loss, and that loss is to Texas. It is wonderful to think that is naws at them all year that their one and only loss was to us. Believe me when I say that Switzer identifies with that statement.
I would not worry about Bailor winning the conference. Their schedule is extremely backloaded. I would bet they go 3-3 or 2-4 the rest of the way.
Not only did the get a good DC, but they also have the best defensive player in college football by a longshot. Garrett is a one man wrecking crew.
