At this point it seems safe to say Chuck is coaching his final games at UT. The players (and parents) seem to love him. Hell, I love his attitude and ethics but he just can't seem to win dammit. I recall Chris Warren's mom saying they would transfer if Chuck got canned last year. Well, here we are again but we're now looking at the fact that Strong has failed and will be getting escorted out of town in the near future. So, I'm now wondering about the fallout from this 3 year circus. Are kids going to transfer when their beloved coach is shown the door? Ya gotta think Foreman is heading for the nfl barring injury. What's going to be left of the current roster?

Chuck is the "closer" when it comes to recruiting but he ain't gonna be around to close. I think we're currently looking at 7 commits and a UT team that looks like a first rate **** show. Should they offer all remaining scholarships to kickers in hopes of finding one good kicker? Seriously, wtf kind of recruiting class we looking at?

After all the cesspool ******** could Austin actually be toxic to some quality coaches and coordinators? Money talks but let's not kid ourselves, please stop talking Meyer and Saban and **** like that. Even UT doesn't have enough money to make a top guy at a top tier school come here. I think the options will be limited with a lot people quietly saying "no thank you". So who are the legit options cause I'm waiting for a rabbit to pop out of a hat.

In the end, Chuck seems to have brought in some quality players on paper. But when the dust settles from the CS Era mess, how long until UT can think about being relevant again? If things fall poorly then I'm afraid we're staring at the reset button and a full rebuild starting next year. We're potentially staring at a decade of of being a third rate team in the big 12. UT is currently sitting at the kiddie table with Kansas and Iowa State.

    So, any predictions Clubber?

Persuading a great coach to come to this "cesspool" will be about as difficult as picking up the phone when the agents start, make that "keep," calling.

I just hope this mythical coach is more greater than Charlie Strong. He was supposed to be great wasn't he ??? And seriously, wtf am I gonna do with this stupid "Stonghorns" shirt my friend bought me. Am I a dick if I burn it or should I donate it to a hobo instead?

    Dude,

Perrin can't use his email because it is so full of resumes. If a kid is loyal to a coach and not the school/program, give him his release. I shall paraphrase a quote from a starter on the 76 & 77 teams. It is not exact but damn near. "I hated that little son of a ***** when I met him, but winning with Akers was a helluva lot more fun than losing with Coach Royal.

The Urban Meyer ******** is from people that don't know **** about Meyer or are win at all cost. He remains one of the biggest slimeballs in coaching. I really detest Schnellenberger, Erickson, Beamer, Graham, Brian Kelly, Osborne, and Chuck Long, but to my knowledge none of those harbored a killer.

    Baylor just keeps rollin' along.

I don't know. Right now a good high school coach is better than CS.

I hope it's not as dire as your post indicates. Maybe we should all start going to volleyball games.

SD, as someone noted on another string (from the financial world), "past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results." This also works in reverse. In other words, just because we are underachieving now (yes, that's an understatement) and we have underachieved since 2009 doesn't necessarily mean that our next HC -- as some seem to believe -- will also fail. I expect whichever new HC is chosen for the 2017 campaign to perform considerably better than what we have seen over the past 2 and 1/2 seasons.

It seems like Charlie feels so desperate to win, the desperation has been transferred to the players.....and a team can't win when they're just so scared to lose. They're working so hard not to screw up, they're constantly screwing up. Feel so bad for all involved....even the fans.

I think any top coach with a brain will see us as a sleeping giant. All the potential in the world, just need competent coaching. I would imagine a lot of smart recruits are thinking the same way. We get a competent coach they'll get on board. With competent coaching, we could easily be undefeated right now.

I think the cesspool comments are overblown too. Alumni will quickly get behind a winning coach and a good coach knows he's still in control of the things that determine W's and L's regardless of what influential donor's do, say or think.

THIS. Even with the terrible play, this group has had a shot at winning every game so far. With even a remotely competent coach we'd be sitting at 6-1 or 7-0. All we really needed this year was just a remotely decent D that could make just a couple stops and to get out of its own way.

Even last year we lost games that we should have won because of poor undisciplined coaching.....we are losing games in a completely undisciplined way...the talent is there...its not being coached how to win!

I'm saying it's all coaching, we haven't gotten any better and with proper/better coaching then yes...we would get better:rolleyes1:

Everyone smart--including our hypothetical next amazing coach--likes to buy low, sell high. We are low now, so they will come.

The sleeping giant comparison is a good one.

A very competent coach and staff has this team winning 10 games next year.

I'm not sold Foreman leaves if an inspiring coach takes over. He'll only have one college season with over 100 carries on his resume.

Though he certainly has the tools and film to go third round or later, he needs another heavy carry season to elevate to the top tier.

Also this RB draft class is very top heavy this year....Fournette, Chubb, Cook, McCaffrey, Perrine, etc.

Lot of big names and college stars of the last few years are coming out and will go before him in 2017. Nine are ranked in the top 100. Foreman isn't.

Another heavy production season and less star RB competition would do wonders for his draft status in 2018.

Given this soft schedule, "a very competent coach" would have won 12 this year before a bowl game.

holgerson might work; I like Sonny Dykes.

or keep Strong for recruiting purposes and cut his salary to $3million and hire Les Miles as defensive coordinator with the leftover. So what if he is crazy?

Fred Akers should be on the search committee, whoever we get.

quick review of games lost this year, it is easy to say they should have won at least 6 based on a couple of plays each game.

Strong's resume was that of an unproven HC at the major level, and certainly nothing compared to others that never got consideration. Charlie Strong is a great guy, but could not and cannot handle the job. He is a figment of Bill Powers and KornFairy's imagination, and is Bill Powers legacy to arrogance and lack of athletic knowledge.
