At this point I hope it's true. I think CS could turn it around only if he had a proven DC which wont happen until next season. I don't think we can wait and see if he can do it. He's only picked 1 good assistant so far in Gilbert. The talent is here.

 

If true I wonder who is the OC? Gilbert or Applewhite?

 

First, the cases on the women's side and Applewhite's situation is not apples and oranges (no pun intended). It's more like apples and carburetors. One came clean, the other is playing by Baylor's rules. It is sickening that The University of Texas hasn't gone full speed ahead to blast that case wide open, but then we are the most OC school in the country.

Second, I really don't want Major coaching here again for professional reasons. I'm grateful for all he did as a player, but he has never called the plays anywhere he has coached. Amateur Hour is over. He got fired at Alabama for his inability to evaluate talent. His successes have come from inherited players.

That said, if Herman wants him, I'll accept that.

 

Kearney is a completely different situation and with all of the lawyers that Texas brings to the table that case should have been blown open and done away with a long time ago. That said, as long as that case drags on Applewhite is nuclear to Texas.

Perrin was brought on as a temp and there was a reason for that, he is not an AD. It's amateur hour all over the place. When do the grownups get here?

 

There are fewer viable AD candidates out there than there are HCs. Considering the latter is only two or three, then the AD is down to ONE. No matter how long Fenves waits to accept that fact, the reality is there is ONE or another fuckup. Ban Powers from Bellmont; ban Powers from Memorial Stadium; make the damn call before LSU does.

I would like to see a coach come in and accept an incentive laden contract. Such as win a percentage of games and get a percentage of salary. After a few years or so.

 

He left us with D'Onta Foreman (who was a two star) and Heard who has been one of our better WRs so he could evaluate something. Maybe he had a bad year at Bama 10 years ago, but I would say he has greatly improved since. Also, didnt the players Applewhite recruited at Bama beat us in a National Championship?

 

No, his QB of choice didn't last a year. As for D'Onta, I'm not sure he was the recruiter on the twins, but we were the only ones offering both brothers to get Armanti.

If he comes back, fine. If not, it won't bother me. He's never called plays anywhere he's been. Sit in the pressbox and make suggestions? Yes, but nothing else.

I would like to see Applewhite take over as Head Coach at UH when Herman goes to LSU.

 

For what it is worth coach O is very popular right now. He is the only coach in the history of LSU that the fans didn't need a translator to understand. If he beats Alabama the job is his. Aggie not so much.
