Looking at others besides Tom Herman and Chris Peterson sticks out in my mind.......successful everywhere he has been, innovative, and he would be coming from Washington, sound familiar?
I think he is a pacific northwest guy and will never leave Washington. He always said Washington was his dream job.
I don't know but I have seen it reported that he would probably not leave the NW area due to a child's medical issues, that they need to stay close to some specialists up there. He is very good no doubt and seems like a person who would represent well.
Hmm, we have some pretty great hospitals around here. I am pretty sure we could afford to get himself a helicopter ride to Houston on a regular basis too. Probably afford his own damn helicopter. But you are probably right, its hard to imagine him anywhere but the NW.
The specialist is specific to Angelman syndrome. It's why he wouldn't leave Boise St. too until the last few years. As others have said, he's a Pacific NW guy. Peterson could very easily finish his career at UW.
Him and Harbough would certainly be the 2 top choices since there's concerns about Suburban's ethics, but I can't think of a single reason why either one of them would leave where they're at for Texas for any amount of $.
We should be looking at as many candidates as possible right now and identify the ones that are the best fit for our HC. Don't wait until T+1 to begin the search. I don't believe Jim Harbough would leave Michigan, maybe if he could double his salary. Don't know if his brother John merits a look. He's been primarily a NFL coach his career. Petersen is an option, but again unlikely. Still, no harm in talking.
Except it takes resources away from finding and landing someone who wants to come to Texas. Assuming there is a reason for a HC search, it needs to be focused and over quickly.
My "HornDawg" username comes from my love of the Horns and the Huskies. As much as I love the Longhorns, I hope Petersen stays where he is. The Huskies have endured a tough road with several less than wonderful coaches over the past couple of decades, so they're long overdue for a long tenure with a great coach.
