The state law is to avoid an outgoing state employee from creating a golden parachute without multi level pre approval.

No lump sum payouts for term left.

Take a new HC job and no payout required.

It's disappointing. I think he's protecting people, and I just don't think that's how it works at this level.
    Agreed

this can't be an honest statement.

to be clear, competitors don't quit when they're losing. they don't quit when they see they can't win. they do their best until the last whistle.

I can see people mention it who look at what Red said originally. They'll ask if he got a fair shot and if he was put in to a culture that didn't have the full support from the big boosters.
i don't agree with it, but i think the question will be asked.

Sorry Pecos, but there are exceptions to any rule. If those three want him paid - he will be paid.

Any knowledgeable sports person that knows the crap that was pulled on Akers during his coaching tenure will ever open their mouth about Strong. Of course the self serving race baitors will be out in force. They will find some TV camera to film them. Won't last long because Strong won't support or promote it.

I don't feel a bit sorry for Strong. He was paid a king's ransom to bring our program back to respectability and we're worse now than his first season.

Not to mention we are more nationally irrelevant than Brown's final years.

Matter of fact, I've detested his press conferences from Day One. Never once did I feel the person talking in those PC's was equipped for all this job demands.

He's a good man, but paid like an elite coach for much more than good character and intentions. There are plenty of high character, incapable coaches we could pay far less.

At this point he's collected roughly $13 mil in regards to games coached. No chance I'm gonna feel sorry for anyone fleecing us for nearly $1 mil per win.

I'm not upset with Strong as I believe he's doing his best. Bottom line is he's out of his league at this high level where the top coaches make their living.

Here's my example of a Strong PC answer.

Question: I noticed a few times when the defense brought middle pressure, Foreman was open in the flat. Will we see any swing passes to the RB going forward?

Answer: Oh you mean that 3rd and 5, when you look at it, it was just T-Bone and 44 were on a slant left block down and we missed the blitzing LB, and you just gotta make that block, and that's just what happened on that play.

    WHAT?!?

Everything about his answers scream the micro mindset of a position coach. The macro strategist qualities of a top head coach seem glaringly absent. Unfortunately there are countless examples of it on game day.

if a man can't do the job, call it like it is. if a man is a stand up guy can't do the job, you treat him with respect, and replace him.

Love that tweet/story! No one knows the things that go through a person within. Glad Charlie was there for Haines, just wish more had played with the heart he did every down. He may not have been the most talented but I felt he gave everything he had nad if Charlie is to be credited for that good on him.
Now Herman come on, do it for the whole team :bevo:
