not really a surprise to have her cleared considering how well her rehab had been going but it's nice to the medical clearance. :hookem3:

She and Brooke are going to be a great one-two punch at PG for the Horns the next two seasons.

Big 12 involved in two of the five. Good to see the Horns making news for the games they are playing. :hookem2:

14 days until tipoff vs Tarleton State! :coolnana:
Then the start of the regular season at Stanford! :hookem3:

Can't wait to see the team on the floor. Not to mention that we will have a pretty good idea of who is committing for 2017 by the Stanford game. :hookem:

Moooooo, you're right about the colors. Strange. Different dye batches. Send them back. I miss the black with the b. orange.

off the top of my head, Brooke will be going head to head against two other nominees: Baylor's Alexis Jones and UConn's Kia Nurse.

Stanford will have a game under their belts by the time that they play the Horns. It will be Texas' first game of the season.

I read Coach's comment that Brooke is going to be the starting point guard. She'll do well, but I hope Sutton comes along pretty quickly and Brooke is able to go back to "shooting guard," at least some of the time. I love her in that position. Wonder what will happen in her senior year. With Sutton and Patterson as PG's, maybe she will move back to the old position (or not).

If Brooke has any aspirations of playing pro, whether the WNBA or overseas, she needs more experience as a PG. Nothing says she can't be a scoring PG ala BU exe Sims and, likely, Alexis Jones this year at Baylor.

I would say that she is a bit too small to play in the league, and would be the shortest player ever to do so. I think her and coach know that, so hopefully they are willing to do whatever it takes to win with THIS team rather than having an eye on the future. If that means playing more 2 guard, then so be it.

Actually, she wouldn't be. Angel Goodrich is a 5' 4" PG (Kansas) and has played in the WNBA for a few seasons for Tulsa (3rd Round Pick) and Seattle. Goodrich was solid at Kansas but not in the same class with Brooke.

I also think that Brooke helps the team more by playing shooting guard. She's the best shooter on the team and needs to take as many shots as she can for this team. Tasia and sug will have to be able to run the point guard position well enough for Brooke to do that.

I've stated this before, but we are thin at PG until Alecia is 100% ready to play in games; we have Brooke and Tasia. That's it. Lashann can play a few minutes at point, but it's not her natural position. We need Brooke's leadership at PG; and, we need her to stay out of foulr trouble.

Assuming Alecia is not ready for the first game, here's what our back court depth chart looks like:

    PG: Brooke, Tasia
    SG: Ariel, Lashann

I guess Brianna is versatile enough to play SG, but she isn't a natural shooter/scorer.

I think Brianna will surprise some people with her play at guard. Alecia should be able to go from the first whistle. But I still think that Brooke can help best by playing at PG. She is a very good shooter from BTA, but not the only one on the team. We have more and better shooters than we have had in the past. It should not be a struggle to get more than one or two good 3pt shooters on the floor this season.

Of course, I am used to thinking about what is best for the individual long term vs the now. It's a balancing act that I am glad I don't have to juggle in terms of playing time/position.

And look at what a lot of recruits are saying about wanting to get better as players to be able to play on the next level. If the coaches can't demonstrate that they are capable of doing that for the individual while getting the team to have success, that talent flow will slow to a tickle. Coaches have to do both to be able to recruit the type of players that will allow the team to contend for championships.

I'm surprised with the idea that Brooke is best suited to play SG. From what I saw last year, she leads and runs the offense better than anyone.

I too was hoping to get a report from the scrimmage from a fellow HornFan. Here's a little video snippet from Texas WBB via Twitter.

Didn't know former players (saw Imani) and ineligible transfers (Jatarie) played for the practice squad.

I sure wish someone in the know would give a scouting report on Stanford. I heard one of the announcers (Nell?) say that their point guard was a surprise not-coming-back. And that our guards pressure would be difficult fot Stanford to overcome. Anybody have some inside info? I am excited about this year after watching the exhibition game. Babhorn or Mooo or ???....I need a Tuesday WBB fix.

I'm not doing anything until I watch Stanford play on Friday. Lili Thompson, who would have been a senior this year, opted out of playing for some reason. Not an injury as far as I have read. She is in school and will graduate with the rest of her class. She was a two time All PAC 12 honoree and likely would have been a three time honoree as well as being in the running for AA honors and the Nancy Lieberman Award. I don't think they have another experienced PG right off the top of my head.
